Ballet Northeast's ‘Nutcracker’ to include local dancers A number of Bach Mountain residents will appear in Ballet Northeast’s 18th annual full- length, traditional “Nutcracker” at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts with performances commencing at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Satur- day and 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, December 14-16. Artistic Director Krisin Degnan, a Lehman native, has also an- nounced that scenic, lighting, and costume enhancements are planned for these perfor- mances. Featured in this holiday clas- sic’s principal roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her cavalier will be guest artists Mary Beth Budd and William Prouty of New York City’s Metropolitan Opera Company Ballet. Keith Brockett, formerly with the Washington Ballet will portray the enchanted Nutcracker Prince. In major supporting roles will be BNE’s Dana Behlke and Genna Swerdon as Klara, with Amanda Simpson of Dallas and Jennifer Stanovich sharing the role of the Snow Queen. Victoria Birkenhead and Sara Smith will alternately portray the Dew Drop Fairy. Kaitlyn Moody of Dallas will be a lead dancer in the Mirliton variation, Kristin Davison will share the role of the Pierrot, and Randa Shahin will essay the Russian advertisement with Kristina Baron and Andrew Sro- movski.
