FIELD HOCKEY Dallas 2, Tunkhannock 1 The Lady Mounts fought back in the second half, scoring two goals after trailing 1-O at half- time. Halli Williams, assisted by Shannon Thomas, tied the game with the first Dallas goal. Unas- sisted, Kate Benedetti scored the second, game-winning goal. The Lady Mounts outplayed the Jon Barbose turned the corner against the Wyoming Area de- fense Saturday. After battling to a 21-all tie at half- time, it became a defensive battle, with Dallas scor- ing the only points of the second half to claim a 27-21 win over a very tough opponent. Wyoming Valley West 1, Lake- Lehman 0 Despite leading in shots on goal, 26-4, Lehman could not answer a first half score by: the Spartans and suffered their first defeat of the season. Dallas 3, Northwest 1 Dallas kept Northwest score- less in the first half, and then outplayed them in the second for the win. Kelly Brzozowski scored the only first half goal. After Northwest tied the game in the second, Kate Benedetti scored the tie-breaking goal with less than four minutes left in the game. Lauren Patton added a third goal for Dallas to seal the victory. Dallas Gridiron pasta dinner Dallas Gridiron Club annual Pasta Dinner will be held Thurs., Oct. 18, at Dallas High School cafeteria from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost per person is $6. Take-outs will be available. DMS Student Council officers The Dallas Middle School Student Council held election of officers for the 2001-2002 school year. The following officers will serve their classmates and school: Sara Swepston, president; Elizabeth Heintz, vice-president; Cassie Snider, recording secretary; Taylor Kelley, corresponding secretary; and Laura Morgan, treasurer. The student council plans many activities including schoolwide dances, theme days, fund-raising events for community organizations, and participates in the American Diabetes Association’s ‘Walk for Dia- betes’. Each year the group also serves as guides for major school functions and attends the Pennsylvania Student Council District IX Conference. The Lady Knights scored a 3-0 shutout against the always-tough Lady Lions. Lake Lehman 5, Elk Lake 0 Moving their record to 11-1, four different Lehman players scored in this shutout of Elk Lake. Lisa Wasser led the way with two goals. Amanda Sagan, Meredith Edwards, and Amy Ruda contributed one goal apiece. Lehman dominated shots (25-0) and corners (17-0). Dallas, Lehman Dental Society to hold golf tournament The Luzerne County Dental Society will hold its fourth an- nual golf tournament on Fri., Oct. 12, starting at 1 p.m. at Irem Temple Country Club, Dal- las. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Wyoming Valley Children’s Asso- ciation, a local United Way agency which provides thera- peutic programs and services to children who have disabilities.
