TEES The Dallas Post 7 Game land tours September 30 As part of the Pennsylvania Game Commission's efforts to highlight its ongoing habitat improvement initiatives, the public is invited to take part in tours of State Game Lands. On Sept. 30. Registration will be from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the headquarters building com- plex Ricketts Station, Forkston Twp., Wyoming County. As part of the tour, the game Commis- sion has developed a voluntary scavenger hunt to help educate the public about food sources for wildlife in the area. Game Commission personnel will be on hand to explain various points ‘of interest, including wildlife habitat improvement projects. Four-wheel-drive vehi- cles are recommended for this three-hour, 30-mile, self-guided driving tour. Directions: take Route 487 north at intersection of Route 118 and proceed 7.5 miles and turn onto a dirt road near State Game Land sign on right. Trav- el on dirt road 1/10 miletoa Y intersection and proceed left 3/10 miles to the headquarters complex. Each vehicle will be provided a map and brief expla- . nation of wildlife management programs being carried out on this magnificent tract of public hunting land. Fall craft show Sept. 30 Dallas High School Soccer Club is sponsoring the annual Fall Craft Show on Sun., Sept. 30, at the Dallas Senior High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 100 vendors from Pennsylvania and New Jersey will be represented, selling vari- ous crafts including semi-pre- cious gemstone jewelry, needle- work, candles, ceramics, pot- pourri, quilts, stenciled lamp shades, woodcrafts, wreaths, hand-made dolls and home made candy. Soccer Club members will be selling lunch and baked goods. Admission is free. BMT Historical Assoc. to meet A group of local residents and members of The Luzerne County Historical Association are form- ing an informal group dedicated to preserving the history and unique’ identity of the Back Mountain. The first meeting of the Back Mountain Historical Association will be held at the McGowan Conference Center at the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library on the College Misericordia cam- pus Thurs., Oct. 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Charles Petrillo, local historian and author of ‘Harveys Lake’, will give an informal talk about Harveys Lake.
