Schweitzer named to West Point’s dean’s list Cadet Matthew James Schweitzer, son of Steve and Anita Schweitzer of Dallas, was named to the dean's list at the U.S. Mili- tary Academy. To qualify for the dean’s list, a cadet must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Schweitzer graduated from Dallas High School in 2000. Wagner investigates parasite as Lafayette scholar Hoping to better understand a disease that sickens people in the Third World, Trustee Scholar Stacey Wagner of Shavertown, a junior at Lafayette, researched the level of carbohydrates found in microscopic flatworm para- sites in a distinctive summer re- search project. Stacey was se- lected from among Lafayette’s top applicants, Trustee Scholars have distinguished themselves through exceptional academic achievement in high school. They receive from Lafayette an annual minimum scholarship of $7,500 (totaling $30,000 over four years) or a grant in the full amount of their demonstrated need if the need is more than $7,500. A graduate of Dallas High School, Stacey expects to be a residence adviser this year. She is a member of the College Republicans and the ski racing team. PSU engineering open house Penn State Wilkes-Barre in Lehman will feature an entire day of engineering related events on Tues., Oct. 9, at the campus Bell Atlantic Center for Technol- ogy. At four different information sessions, students will learn about the various disciplines of engineering. The deadline for postmarked registration for the SAT which will be given at Dallas High School on Sat., Nov. 3, is Sept. 28. Students may obtain a regis- tration bulletin in the guidance office. The PSAT will be given at Dal- las High School on Sat., Oct 20. this test is highly recommended for college bound juniors and should be taken before the SAT.
