She has been a volunteer for six years. Her interest began when her young daughter's life was cut short through the care- lessness of a drunk driver over 12 years ago. Her volunteer ser- vice began by answering an ad in the newspaper for Threshold volunteers. Since that first phone call nearly six years ago, Edna has continued working with inmates at SCI-Dallas and is now the program’s coordina- tor. Also honored with special" recognition for their years of vol- unteer service were Gwen Quick, 10 years; Herb Quick, 10 years; Edward Bilder, 11 years; Ernes- tine Smith, 13 years; Wilma Jones; 14 years; Carlton Houck, 15 years; and Joanne Taylor; 19 years. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bergstrasser of Dallas will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on August 1. They were married by the Rev. Joshua Brundle and assisted by the late Rev. Thomas Stacey at Mrs. Bergstrasser’s parents home, 199 McLean Street, Wilkes-Barre, on August 1, 1936. Attendants were Malvina Lewis and the late Richard Lewis. Mrs. Bergstrasser the former Dorothy Stacey, daughter of the late Thomas and Dora Stacey. Mr. Bergstrasser is the son of the late Philip and Stella Bergstrasser. Mr. Bergstrasser is retired from the A&P company. The Bergstrassers were active members of the United Methodist Church of Idetown, where Mr. Bergstrasser was a lay speaker. The couple has two daughters, Beverly Burnaford, Dallas, and Judy Johnsen, Williamsport. They have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
