Onzik to play at Lackawanna JC Dallas High School football standout Mitch Onzik is headed to Lackawanna Junior College, following in the foot- steps of his brother Paul, who played at the Scranton school the past two years. “Mitch is a tough kid and a great football player,” said Dallas Head Coach Ted Jackson. “His brother Paul was a great player at Lackawanna, and Mitch will be the same.” Mitch Onzik, 6-2, 250 pounds, was a two-way starter for two years at Dallas and was the team’s second-leading tackler as a senior with close to 100 tackles, according to Jackson. He was an offensive guard as a junior and se- nior. He played defensive tackle as a junior and linebacker as a senior. “He's a vicious hitter and an old blue-collar type player, a flashback to the old days,” said Jackson. “He did a tremendous job playing both ways. We moved him to linebacker out of neces- sity.” Onzik was a two-time Wyoming Val- ley Conference All-Star and was also selected to the Dream Team as a ju- nior. He played in the annual UNICO ALL-Star Game on Jun. 28 as a mem- ber of the West team. He broke into the starting lineup at Dallas as a sophomore, performing at offensive guard, and served as team captain as a senior.
