Harry David Owens Sr., 90, of Maple Street, Trucksville section of Kingston Township, formerly of Pittston and Wyoming, died Thursday June 28, 2001 at The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Born March 16, 1911, in Wilkes- Barre, he was a son of the late Charles and Ethel (Roberts) Owens. He was a miner and laborer in the Ewen, Number 14 and Woodward Collieries of Glen Alden Coal Co., Jenkins Township, and later was a bill poster for Reese Outdoor Ad- vertising Co., Forty Fort, and Donnelly and Park Outdoor advertising companies, Scran- ton, until retiring in 1974. He was also the custodian for many years for The Trucksville Fire Co., and for the Kingston Township Municipal Building for 35 years. He was a mem- ber of the Trucksville United Methodist Church, life meém- ber of the Trucksville Volun- teer Fire Co. and past member of the Toby Creek Lodge Inter- national Order of Odd Fellows. He also served as judge of elections in Kingston Town- ship for numerous years. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie Semenza and Ethel Solomon; and brothers, Frederick, David, Willard and John. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Minerva Perkins; son, Harry David, Jr., Boiling Springs; daughter, Ruth Roberts, Jackson Town- ship; and five grandchildren. Born June 16, 1923, in Bloom- ingdale, she was the daughter of the late McKinley and Hazel (Edwards) Long. She was a 1942 graduate of Shickshinny High School, 1945 graduate of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing and 1973 graduate of Wilkes University. She was a charge nurse of the emergency room at the Wilkes- Barre General Hospital for five years, and charge nurse and nursing supervisor for many years at Retreat State Hospital, Hunlock Creek, and Danville State Hospital, Danville. She was a member of the Commu- nity Bible Church, Sweet Val- ley, and volunteer emergency medical technician with the Sweet Valley Volunteer Ambu- lance for many years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Ferry; and brothers, McKinley Long Jr. and Charles H. Long. Surviving are her son, Rev.
