McOwen receives degree Sweet Briar College awarded a bachelor of arts degree magna cum laude to Hunter McOwen, daughter of Wayne and Frances McOwen, Dallas. An English creative writing major, McOwen also was pre- sented with the Lawrence G. Nelson Award for excellence in English. During her career at Sweet Briar she has received the DeColigny award for English, and the Boley prize. Her work has been pub- lished by The International Library of Poetry, Sweet Briar's literary journal, Red Clay, and by Poetry magazine.
