In . hurling the shutout, the two Pirate pitchers each struck out 6. Brad Fagula belted a home run and Scott Summa drilled 2 singles to power the Pirate of- fense. Matt Hufford struck out 2 Pirate batters and played excellent defense at shortstop for the Indians. Astros 8, Tigers 2 mm Josh Shaver pitching for the Yankees. Mike Lipsky and Dan Taroli combined to strike out 6 batters en route to hurl- ing a 3-hitter. Lipsky smacked 4 hits while Mike Pelleschi collected a double and a single for the Astros. For the Tigers, Brian Feleccia blasted a home run. Feleccia and Chris Klaiss com- bined to strike out 5 Astros. Reds 12, A's 2 Tom Perry ripped a double and 3 sin- gles to lead the Reds to victory. Andrew Kirk and Chris DeRojas contributed 3 hits apiece for the Reds while Greg Har- ris collected a homer and a single and Mike Prater had a double and a single. For the A’s, Stephen Zubko and Robert Hayes each had 2 hits, with Zubko and Zach Aciukiewicz each collecting a dou- ble. Reds 15, Rangers 4 Mike Prater blasted 2 home runs and a single while Tom Perry went 4-for-4 as the Reds overwhelmed the Rangers. Chris DeRojas and Greg Harris each contributed 2 hits for the wiiners. DeRojas and Harris combined to strike out 4 batters. For the Rangers, Matt Ruch singled twice while Kevin Engler and D. J. The Mounts couldn't find the same magic Monday, and lost a first-round state playoff game *4-3 to Phoenixville. Dallas scored all its runs in the top of the first inning, then were shut down the rest of the game. A sixth-inning challenge was snuffed out when Jordy Spencer grounded out to shortstop with two outs and runners on second and third.
