Pat Oliveira of the Monday evening book discussion group offers this review of "The Dress Lodger", by Sheri Holman. "It is an historical novel set in the w 1830's during the cholera epi- demic in Sunderland, England. Those who read the book found it interesting and educational, and would recommend it to someone who enjoys a history- based novel. The narrative is very interesting as the story is told by the voices of the dead who speak to characters in the book, a style used by Charles Dickens. The book also had ) great insight into the beginnings of modern medicine as we know it today -- especially the field of autopsy". Pam added that some of the group met the author at the Times Leader/Tudor Book Store discussion, and got some back- ground into the inner workings of the book. She says that Sheri Holman is a very witty and ani- mated writer who thoroughly en- joyed doing the research for the book and loves her job. The group will meet on Thurs- day, June 28, at 7 p.m. at Little Nicky's to discuss "The Plain Truth", by Jodi Picoult. All are welcome.
