Cucanandy, an exciting Celtic-based ensemble from North Carolina, will play at Chicory House on Friday, March 30 at 8 p.m. Chicory House con- certs are held in the Community Room at St. Stephen’s Church, 35 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, across from Boscov's parking lot. Doors open at 7:30 and refresh- ments are available. Cucanandy offers a unique blend of traditional Celtic music and step dancing, delighting au- diences around the country with their energy and bright tapestry of sounds. Percussive dancer Malke Rosenfeld appeared in Riverdance with the group Foot- works during the show's 1996 London run and has also per- formed solo. Flute, guitar and dulcimer player Mike Casey en- chants listeners with his stories and music, while singer/guitarist Stephanie Johnston's strong, clear voice provides what has been described as a supple and ethereal sound. Jason Cabe, the group's fiddler, has lived in Cork, Dublin and County Clare, where he immersed himself in Ireland’s melodic fiddle traditions. Admission to the concert is $10, or $8 for supporting mem- bers of Chicory House. Seating is first-come, first-served. No ad- vance tickets will be sold.
