FREDERICK KIRKENDALL Frederick C. Kirkendall, 57, of Dallas, died December 1. 2000 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medi- cal Center, Plains Township. Born Nov. 2, 1943, in Wilkes- Barre, he was a son of the late Frederick C. and Elizabeth (Mor- gan) Kirkendall. He was a 1963 graduate of Dallas Senior High School and attended the Granoff School of Music, Philadelphia. He was a musician and guitarist with the Star Fire Band, owned and operated the Back Mountain Mu- sic Co. and was an artist in resi- dence at the State Correctional Institute at Dallas, Jackson Town- ship. He also worked for Wesley Village., He was a member of the Back Mountain Harvest Assem- bly, Trucksville section of King- ston Township. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, the former Judy Besteder; sons, Frederick, Norristown; and Charles, at home; daughter, Judy Joy, Dallas; sister, Doris Morris, Asheville, N.C.; and several nieces, and nephews. Dobash, 55, of Sweet Valley. died Decem- ber 1, 2000 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. ; Born July 21, 1945, in Wilkes- Barre, he was the son of Susan Bamrick Dobash, of Georgetown, and the late John Dobash. He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years during the Vietnam Era, retiring in 1985. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Army’ Commendation Medal, seven Good Conduct Medals, Viet- nam Service Medal with nine ser- vice stars, eight Overseas Service Bars, Bronze Star Medal, U.S.A. Recruiter Badge, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal and two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the Veter- ans of Foreign Wars and was an associate member of the Daddow Isaacs American Legion Post 672, Dallas. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Betty Raitter; son, Dr. Gregory Dobash, Phila- delphia; step sons, Edmund and Jason Pish, both of Edwardsville; step daughters, Angel Bestwick, Dallas; Laura Pish, Trucksville; EDITH GIBERSON Edith “Joan” Giberson, age 76, of RR 2, Follies Road, Dallas, died December 1, 2000 at the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit of Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born March 18, 1924 in Wilkes- Barre, she was the daughter of the late Rena Mae Jones. She resided in. Dallas for four years and prior to this, she resided in Wilkes-Barre. She was a graduate of Meyers High School and Wilkes-Barre Vocational Technical School. Mrs. Giberson was a member of the Calvary Bible ‘Church on Samborne Street in Wilkes-Barre. Prior to her retirement in 1982, she was employed as a L.P.N. at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospi- tal. Prior to this she was employed at the Wyoming Valley Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin H., on March 12, 1997; grandson, Den- nis A. Osman; and sister, Lanna Mae Atkinson.
