He was born the son of the late John G. and Annie (Jones) Tho- mas, and was educated in the Kingston School District. He was employed as an = outside sales representative with Phillips Sea- food until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of The First Baptist Church, Kingston, King- ston Lodge 395, Caldwell Consistory, and Irem Temple AAONMS , where he was an avid chanter. He was also a founding member of the Thursday Lunch Club at Irem Temple Country Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion (Kunkle) Tho- mas; and his son, John J. Tho- mas, Ph.D. Surviving are a daughter, Carol Scholes, Ormond Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. He was the chaplain for the Grand Rapids Police Department and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Vancouver, British Columbia. Surviving are his brother, John T., Dallas; one niece; and one nephew. He was employed by the Armour Leather Co., Noxen, for 15 years; the Johnson, Drake and Piper Construction Co., New York, for one year; and he owned and oper- ated the Noxen Texaco Station for eight years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Rattle- snake Gun Club, Loyalville; the board of the Noxen Community Federal: Credit Union; the Bowman's Creek Lions Club; and he attended the Noxen United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by brothers Cecil, Frank, Donald and Herbert; sisters Margaret Lord and Inez Dennis; and granddaughter, Crystal Russell.
