Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was son of the late attorney John S., Sr. and Mary (Skritulsky) Lopatto. He was a 1942 graduate of Wyo- ming Seminary. He was a U.S. veteran of World War II, serving in the China, Burma, India Theater for three years. He was a mem- ber, president, secretary and trea- surer of the Wyoming Valley New Car Dealer Association, member of the Pennsylvania Automobile Dealers Association and National Automobile Dealers Association, and president of Harveys Lake Protective Association. He was also a member of the Church of St. Casimir, Hanover Township, and president of its Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his brother, Judge Edward. Pope, Sr., of Trucks- ville, died Thursday, October 19, 2000 at his home following an illness. : Born on July 14, 1913, in Lu- zerne, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Evans) Pope. He served in the U.S. Airforce during World War II and received an honorable discharge. Prior to his retirement in 1978, he was a school teacher for 43 1/2 years in the public schools of Wyoming Valley. Active in the athletic departments at the schools, he served as baseball coach. Mr. Pope was a member of Bennett Presbyterian Church, Luzerne. Preceding him in death are his brothers, Archibald, Charles, Earl and Willard Pope; and sisters, Gladys Brown and Pearl Gilbert.
