At 7 p.m. on Oct. 11, the Harveys Lake Fire & Ambulance will sound its fire siren. That will be the signal for residents to hold a home fire drill. This is the perfect opportunity for every family to practice its escape plan. This is also a good time to change batteries in all smoke détectors. The fire department strongly urges that several be placed in each home. If you have any questions or need help with a detector you can call the department at 639-1919. His book has been distributed to every leg- islator and 500 other state and local officials by James Seif, Penn- sylvania Secretary of Environmen- tal Protection. Hylton is also an organizing member of 10,000 Bulford Reunion held Friends of Pennsylvania, a coali- tion of civic groups dedicated to land use reforms and community building in Pennsylvania. Most recently, Hylton has also hosted - Saving Pennsylvania, an hour- long documentary based on Save Our. Land that premiered on Pennsylvania's seven public broadcasting stations in the spring of 2000. A native of Wyomissing, Hylton. has lived all of his life in Pennsyl- vania cities and towns. Since 1973, (Hylton ’'has 'lived: in Pottstown with his wife, Frances, an elementary school teacher in the Pottstown School District. For 22 years, he wrote for Pottstown's daily newspaper, The Mercury. His editorials advocating the pres- ervation of farmland and open space in southeastern Pennsylva- nia won a Pulitzer Prize in 1990.
