"We're really excited about go- -ing to the state championship games in Shippensburg,” said ‘Megan Youells, before she and her family travelled there. Her father, Tom kept the scorebook for the team. "We're going to check into a motel on Friday night because they have a dinner scheduled for all of the teams. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun," Megan added. "There are rules about how often the girls can pitch and, since our team played so many games in just a few days, we sim- ply ran out of pitchers. The team from Upper Darby only played two games during the week, so they weren't in the same trouble,” she added. "It was a lot of fun,’ said Brittainy Rice. "I really enjoyed being out there with all of my friends." Her parents, five sib- lings and her grandmother also travelled to Shippensburg for the tournament. "The games were exciting for the y FO. WE « girls. "We were undefeated after the division and regional games. The best game at 'states' was when we came back to beat the team from Milton," said Becca Banks. "They won the first game we played but in the second we were down by six runs and we came back to win. It was great.” "All of the girls had an impact in the games. They each seemed to have some special plays,” said Mark Rice. “For example, Megan Youells hit a clutch double with the bases loaded to tie up the game. against Milton and Paige Selenski, our shortstop, caught a fly ball and threw it to first to get the runner out in another impor- tant game."
