She was born Dec. 21, 1926, daughter of the late Adolph and Victoria Krustofosky Switalski. Before retiring, Mrs. Gabel was employed by Natona Mills, Lin- ear, College Misericordia and Kmart. She was a member of Holy Fam- ily Parish, Luzerne , formerly Sa- cred Heart of Jesus Parish; Catho- lic Daughters of America at St. Therese's Church, Shavertown; Dallas Senior Citizens and its Shuffleboard League. Her husband, Charles B., died in 1999; grandson, Eddie Dunbar, Jr., also preceded her in death. Williams, Sr., 82, of Kingston, died August 5, 2000, at the Department of Veterans Af- fairs Medical Center, Wilkes- Barre. Born. Jan. 27, 1918, in Ply- mouth, England, he was a son of the late John T. and Florence (Tabb) Williams. He was a 19-year U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving as flight engineer and gunner in the 500 Bomb Squadron of the 345th Bomb Group, New Guinea. He completed 53 combat missions and received the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the South- west Pacific Campaign Medal, and the Outstanding Unit Award Cita- tion. He was awarded two citations from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, a Certificate of Special Recognition from the U.S. House of Representatives and a Certificate of Commendation from the State Senate. By resolution of the Luzerne County commission- ers, July 14, 1993, was desig- nated as William J. Williams Day in Luzerne County. He was preceded in death by his son, David John; and brother, Ronald J. Surviving are his son, William J. Jr., Texas; daughter, Susan Carla Whitfield, Idaho; compan- ion, Irene L. Lindemann, King- ston; five grandchildren; brother, Kenneth S. Wyalusing; and sis- ters, Olwen Overman, Shaver- town; Blanche Williams, Wilkes- Barre; and Joan M. Kosek, Mary- land. MARY FERRETTI Mary L. (Lussi) Ferretti. of Pittston Township, died Friday, August 4, 2000, at VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit of Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born and raised in Jenkins Township, she was the daughter of the late Primo and Elisa Pierelli Lussi. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Arlene Ferretty Nichols. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Frank E. Ferretti, at home; daughters, Jean Demko, Forty Froty; Ellen Alaimo, Shav- ertown; sister, Rose Vennarini, Old Boston; brother, Angelo Lussi, Pittston; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
