- The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, June 28,2000 7 John Lemmond promoted by Navy In April 2000, the Navy an- nounced the promotion of its new- est Senior Chief and Master Chief Petty Officers, the two highest enlisted ranks in the U.S. Navy. Commander Christopher J. Mossey, the Commanding Officer of U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion SEVEN, person- ally notified John P. Lemmond of his selection to the prestigious rank of Senior Chief Petty Of- ficer. "I'm very - 5 pleased with the “sg chief PETTY selectionresults, OFFICER JOHN P. and Iam particu- LEMMOND larly proud of Senior Chief Lemmond. His performance dur- ing our recent Pacific Deployment was nothing short of outstand- ing." stated Commander Mosey after the advancements were an- nounced. U.S. Naval Mobile Construc- tion Battalion SEVEN recently returned from a seven-month de- ployment to the Pacific Rim, with personnel stationed in Japan, Korea, Indonesia, East Timor, and Vietnam. Senior Chief Lemmond served as the Senior Enlisted Ad- visor for a 23-person team of Navy Engineers that constructed a school, road, and vehicle bridge in Surabaya, Indonesia. Despite the arduous working conditions, these critical humanitarian and civic action projects were com- pleted ahead of schedule and sig- nificantly enhanced the quality of life of over 20,000 local nationals. Upon completion of his mis- sion in Indonesia, Senior Chief Lemmond returned to Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Material Liaison Chief, respon- sible for the procurement and warehousing of over $12 million dollars of construction material. His efforts in Japan facilitated the completion of 14 large construc- tion projects that saved the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps more than 18 million dollars in labor costs. Commander Mossey closed the promotion ceremony by saying, "Senior Chief Lemmond's indi- vidual contributions to this command's mission accomplish- ment cannot be overstated. His superb professionalism and out- standing performance in real world operations directly contrib- uted to NMCB SEVEN's success during our recent deployment."
