Zaleskas drives in game winner for Giants Mike Zaleskas drilled a 2-run single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning to give the Giants a thrilling 5-4 extra-inning win over the Dodgers in a very tightand, at times, bizarre game. Nick alld Dom id Harding each con- tributed a double to the attack. Harding struck out 4 in 6 innings on the mound. Domzalski struck out 2 in 1 inning of relief to gain the victory. Ron Shiner and Mike Dougherty each ripped a double and a single for the Dodgers. Shiner pitched 6 innings, fan- ning 9 batters. Pirates 3, Cardinals 1 Gracjan Kraszewski and Alan Sheridan combined to strike out 15 batters en route to stifling the Cardinals on 1 hit. Sam Podbelski paced the Pirate offense with a double. For the A’s, Jeremy Weinstock, Mike Rudick and Josh Reese each collected 3 hits while Jake Duvlan smacked a double. Rudick and Reese combined to strike out 5 Rang- ers. Reds 11, Dodgers 2 Jake Stryjewski struck out 6 in the course of shutting down the Dodger of- fense. Greg Harris and Dan Vnuk each rapped 2 hits while Pat Foley belted a double for the Reds. Ronnie Shiner crushed a homer and a triple to lead the Dodgers. Reds 10, Cardinals 9 Chris DeRojas circled the bases to score the deciding run when the Cardi- nals misplayed his bunt attempt in the bottom of the 6th inning. Mike Prater, Greg Harris, Dan Vnuk, Jake Stryjewski and Robbie Tomko each collected 2 hits for the winners. Vnuk, Prater and Tomko each belted doubles while Stryjewski had 2 doubles. Harris and Prater combined to strike out 5 Cardinals. Chad Gelso and Matt Fuhr each singled twice for the Cardinals. Scott Henry added a long double for the losers. Stephen Yankowski and Dylan Seeley combined to strike out 10 batters for the Cards. Orioles 6, Yankees 3 Josh Clay, Conner Lenahan and Tom Parrish tossed a combined 1-hitter at the Yankees. Alex Kish, Bobby Lenahan and Matt Alfano each collected 2 hits for the Orioles. Kish and Chris Parrish each cracked doubles for the winners. Orioles 11, Indians 1 Chris Parrish struck out 13 batters and allowed only 2 hits as the Orioles defeated the Indians. Parrish also belted a 3-run homer in the Ist inning. Alex Kish cracked 3 hits, including a double, for the winners. Tom Parrish smashed 2 doubles while Eric Tucker singled twice for the O’s. Kevin Little doubled for the Indians. Giants 15, Indians 1 David Harding and Nick Samanas each blasted home runs to power the Giants over the Indians. Harding added a double and single while Samanas contributed an additional 2 hits as well. Kyle Mahle had a double and a single and Eric Domzalski had 2 singles for the winners. Mike Zaleskas picked up the victory by striking out 3 in 4 innings on the mound. Giants 13, Astros 3 David Harding belted a home run and a triple to lead the Giants over the Astros. Eric Domzalski and Nick Samanas each slammed a triple and 2 singles and Mike Zaleskas collected a double and a single for the winners. Domzalski picked up the win on the mound, striking out 5. Jon Janerich’s double highlighted the Astros’ attack. Tigers 11, Rangers 9 Brian Feleccia went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles to power the Tigers’ attack. Jusgy tin Orlandini and Dan Jacobs each cracked 2 doubles for the Tigers while teammate Brian Goeringer singled twice. Winning pitcher Adam King, who struck out 12 Rangers, added a triple and a single to the Tiger offense. Matt Ruch went 3-for-4 to lead the Rangers. Joe Bailey added 2 hits to the Ranger attack. Matt Noble and Ruch each doubled for the losers. Bailey, Kevin Engler and Ruch shared the pitching duties, combining to strike out 7. Tigers 18, Red Sox 0 Brian Feleccia collected 7 strikeouts en route to shutting out the Red Sox. Greg Jerzak banged out 3 hits for the Tigers while Justin Orlandini and Brian Goeringer each got 2 hits. Feleccia, Goeringer, Jerzak and Mike Miller, who made an outstanding running catch in the outfield, each belted doubles. Orlandini smacked a triple. Chris Larson and Joe Degraba each struck out 3 batters for the Red Sox. Phillies 7, Pirates 3 Matt Kapitula struck out 10 and al- lowed 5 hits in pitching the Phillies to victory. Kapitula, Brandon Wills and Billy Holena each singled twice for the Phillies. Kapitula was intentionally walked in his other 2 trips to the plate. Gracjan Kraszewski and Alan Sheridan each struck out 4 in 3 innings on the mound for the Pirates. JUNIOR LEAGUE Pirates win slugfest Dave Schultz, Ryan Maracio, Erich Mahle and Ken Regan each collected 2 hits for the Pirates in a 19-14 win over the Rockies. Included in those hits were a double by Schultz, a triple and a double by Mahle, and 2 doubles by Regan. Schultz struck out 9 Rockies. Mark Yankowski and Brandon Burkhardt each belted 3 hits for the Rockies, including a double by Yankowski. Joel Mazur added a triple and a double to the attack. Blue Jays 13, Wyoming/West Wyoming | 1 Matt Shiskowski fired a 6-hitter and struck out 10: for the Blue Jays. Shiskowski and Colin Baird each col- lected 2 hits for the Jays. Blue Jays 13, Wyoming/West Wyoming Il 7 Josh Wysocki and Matt Shiskowski each ripped 2 hits to lead the Blue Jay offense, with one of Wysocki’s hits being a triple. John Paul Parulski struck out 5 en route to the victory. Plains Il 11, Rockies 10 Mark Yankowski and Brandon Burkhardt each singled twice for the Rockies. Hagy and Burgesseach collected a double and a single for Plains. Winning pitcher Kandrack fanned 3. SENIOR LEAGUE Tkaczyk, Bolton lead Pirates past Harveys Lake Adam Tkaczyk pitched a strong 6 in- nings striking out 7 as the Back Moun- tain Pirates edged Harveys lake 6-4. Ryan Bolton earned a save striking out 2 in the last inning. Bolton and Tkaczyk led the offense with 2 hits each. Chip Harrison worked out 3 walks and stole home for the game-winning run in the top of the 7th inning. Kalinay and Taylor piched well for H-L striking out 10 Pirates. Tay- lor had 3 hits including a monster home run. Kalinay added a triple. Harvey’s Lake 7, Indians 1 Matt Kalinay struck out 10 and blasted a triple for Harvey's Lake. May added a double and a single for the winners, Steve Salavantis belted a double and Jordy Spencer tossed 4 1/3 innings of shutout relief for the Indians. Indians 6, Duryea Dodgers 3 Brian Cornia and Ty Ellis combined to limit the Duryea offense. Cornia allowed only 1 hit in 4 innings on the mound. Jordy Spencer went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles for the Indians. Steve Salavantis and Sean Stroll each collected 2 hits, includ- ing a double by Salavantis. For Duryea, Klimek had 2 singles and Gromelski ripped a double. Pat Orner tossed a complete game for the losers. BMT Pirates 16 - North W-B 2 Adam Tkaczyk, Frank Oatridge and Chip Harrison pitched a combined 1 hit- ter striking out 6. Joel Lesinski led Pirate hitters with 3 hits including 2 doubles. Ryan Bolton also had 3 hits including a double. Daniel Katyl, Oatridge and J.J. Sidorek had 2 hits each. SOFTBALL Williamson pitches, bats Dodgers to win Joanna Williamson and Sara Brown combined to strike out 9 for the Dodgers as they defeated the Bob Horlacher A's 11-7. Williamson also slugged a double. Sherwood struck out 7 for Horlacher. White Sox 14, Cardinals 6 Nikki Malloy stroked 3 hits for the White Sox. Sheree Horvath pitched hit- less ball and struck out 8 in 3 innings on the mound for the Sox. Alyse Miller cracked a triple for the Cardinals. White Sox 15, Yankees 0 Nikki Malloy tossed a no-hitter, com- plete with 12 strikeouts, for the White Sox. Malloy, Maggie Guntli, Amanda Musto and Chelsea Calhoun each col- lected 2 hits for the winners, with Malloy and Guntli blasting doubles. White Sox 15, Dodgers 0 Sheree Horvath allowed 1 hit and struck out 9 for the White Sox. Horvath also led the Sox offense with 2 hits. JUNIOR LEAGUE SOFTBALL Blue Jays 11, Diamonds 2 Lauren Lipsky went 4 for 5 to power the Blue Jay offense. Carrie Horsefield doubled and Lauren Pyskoty scored 3 runs for the Jays.
