| } I The Dallas Post Section 2 May 31, 2000 Sports Abington Heights eliminates Lehman Abington Heights freshmen combined for four goals in eliminating the veteran Lake-Lehman Black Knights from the district soccer playoffs Thursday in Kingston. The Comets held a 2-0 halftime lead and then stretched the lead to 5-1 before Lake-Lehman added two goals in the last 10 minutes of play. Janna Elston scored the first goal of the second half with Janelle Perlis getting the assist. Sara Rittenhouse and Erin Loughney scored the final two goals of the game, with assists being credited to Elston, Jennifer Frank, and Perlis. The Knights actually outshot the Comets 17-12. Parrish and Conner Lenahan combined to strike out 10 Astros. Jondanerich cracked 2 doubles and a single for the Astros. He was supported by Dan Taroli and Michael Lipsky, who each singled twice. Lipsky, Taroli and Kevin Konicki combined to strike out 6. Pirates 10, Red Sox 0 Alan Sheridan struck out all 9 hitters he faced as the Pirates won in 5 innings. Gracjan Kraszewski struck out 6 in 2 innings on the mound. Reds 25, Indians 2 Andrew Kirk, Eric McDermott and Greg Harris each collected 4 hits in powering the Reds’ out- burst. Chris DeRojas and Mike Prater cracked 3 hits apiece and Robbie Tomko, Patrick DeRojas and Pat Foley contributed 2 hits each to the Reds’ attack. Foley slugged a double and Harris blasted a triple. Jake Stryjewski struck out 6 Indians. Nick Oschman and Sean McMahon each had 2 hits for the Tribe. Astros 18, Red Sox 9 Mike Rovinsky’s inside-the- park home run highlighted the Astros’ victory. The U-14 Division winner was the Back Mountain Demons, coached by John Bednarz and assisted by Dave Leahigh. In the final, Jason Austin and Johnathan Wood each registered a hat trick, as the De- mons used a strong second half to post a 6-2 win against the Night- hawks in the Championship game. Nick Casaldi and Chris Benoit, each scored a goal for the Night Hawks, who took a 2-0 first half lead. Wood scored a goal late in the first half, to cut the margin to 2-1, Austin scored the next two goals and Wood added a pair to make it 5-2.
