Blidner was presented with a monetary gift and certificate in recognition of her outstanding school and community achievement. At Lake-Lehman High School, Elizabeth is co-editor of the school newspaper, Secretary for the National Honor Society, a member of SADD, the Foreign Language Club and the Key Club. She is involved in the Learn and Serve Program at Lake Lehman. She is '@ active in tennis. She is a member of the Wilkes-Barre Junior Leadership Class of 1999. Elizabeth is planning to attend Cornell University in Pre-Med Studies. Bernick wins Walker Award Saba named to Dean's list Jon Saba, a 1999 graduate of Dallas High School, was named to the Shippensburg University dean's list. He ended his first year of school with a 3.4 GPA out of a possible 4.0. Saba also playing in all 11 games as defensive end for the 8-3 Red Raider football team this past fall, and this past April, Saba recorded 2 quarterback sacks and 8 tackles for the blue team during Shippensburg's spring game. Jon is the son of Blake and Bonnie Saba of Dallas. Piazza receives award One of Penn State's most pres- tigious awards for an undergradu- ate students has been awarded to Jennifer Lee Bernick, a sopho- more at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, who was selected as the 2000 recipient of the Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award. Bernick, of Shavertown, was ‘honored recently at both Univer- sity Park where she was presented with a medallion, and at the Wilkes-Barre campus Student Government Association Leader- ship/Athletic Awards Dinner. The Walker Award recognizes a student from each of the cam- puses in the Commonwealth Col- lege whose outstanding qualities of character, scholarship, leader- ship, and citizenship have posi- tively influenced fellow students and have contributed to the pres- tige and well-being of the campus and the reputation of the Univer- sity as a whole. Bernick served as secretary (1998-1999) and vice president (1999-2000) of the Student Gov- ernment Association, was named Who's Who in American Junior Colleges and was an Intercolle- giate Leadership graduate. She chaired the campus THON effort to raise money for children with cancer, the Haunted Forest fund raiser, and was a member of the Holiday at Hayfield committee.
