Dallas Lions celebrate 50th anniversary The Dallas Lions Club celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Club at the Castle Inn with Senator and Mrs. Charles Lemmond as their guests. Sponsored by the Hanover Township Lions Club, the Dallas Club was chartered in February, 1950 as the Old Tailgate Lions Club. Senator Lemmond addressed the club members and guests, reminiscing the many accomplishments and milestones the club experienced during the past 50 years. Former members of the club from as far back as the early 1960's were in attendance. Morgan of Battery C, lst Battalion, 109th Field Artillery, 28th Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, was promoted to his present rank during a ceremony held at the armory on March 10. The Battery Commander, Cap- tain William Start, conducted the ceremony. Sergeant Morgan has been a soldier in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for six years. He has attended various military schools, including the United States Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and the Pri- mary Leadership Development Course. His military awards in- clude the Non-Commissioned Of- ficer Development Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Army Ser- vice Ribbon, National defense Rib- bon, and the Thomas J. Stewart Medal. Sergeant Morgan, graduate of Lake-Lehman High School, is married to the former Gina Traver and has an eight-month-old son, Owen. In his civilian career, he is employed by Procter & Gamble as an operating technician. Alexander H. Mr. Smith is a 1978 graduate of Dallas High School and a 1979 graduate of Wyoming Seminary. He was raised in Trucksville. He obtained his bach- elor of arts degree in economics from Kenyon College in 1983. At Kenyon, he was on the dean’s list, earned 4 varsity letters in football and track, and was president of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity chap- ter. After graduating from Kenyon, Mr. Smith obtained his law de- gree from Capitol University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. While in law school, Mr. Smith was Ar- ticles Editor of Law REview and a member of its national Moot Court team. Mr. Smith joined the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Marine Corps in 1986. As a trial attorney in the Marine Corps, Mr. Smith tried a wide range of criminal cases. CCLC is an arts advocacy, pro- gram-oriented organization, es- tablished to promote awareness of and provide support services to arts, cultural, and related educa- tional programs.
