Leh- man is now 3-0 on the season. The junior varsity also won 2- 0. Lake-Lehman 2, Dallas 0 The Mountaineers put up a good fight, but traditional power Lehman won in straight games, 15-5, 15-10. Russ Mosier had six service points, 18 assists and two kills to lead the Black Knights. Noah Pickett had eight kills, and Tom Brislin added seven. For Dallas, Jeff Levinson had 10 as- sists and a pair of blocks, Dave Martin had four kills and Ryan Onyshczak had three kills. Lehman 2, Tunkhannock 0 The Black Knights routed the Tigers by scores of 15-5and 15-2. Senior Russ Mosier did it all by finishing with six service points including an ace, three kills, three blocks, and 19 assists. Matt McMahon added eight service points including an ace, four blocks, and a kill. Also contribut- ing were Noah Pickett with four points (one ace), three blocks, and three kills, Drew Salko with four kills and four blocks, and Tom Brislin with four blocks and three kills. TENNIS Lehman 4, Hanover Area 3 Lake-Lehman won two of the three doubles matches in defeat- ing the Hawkeyes of Hanover Area last week. Dan Nygren (#1) and Alex Klass (#4) each won their singles matches in straight sets and doubles matches in three sets. Nygren paired with Andy Weaver to earn the win at #1 doubles in three sets after dropping the first set, while Klass was part of the victorious #3 doubles team who won the first set in a tiebreak, dropped the second, and won the third 7-5 to pull out the overall team victory. Hazleton 7, Dallas 0 The rebuilding process for Dal- las continued as Hazleton Area shutout the Mountaineers on the Hazleton Area courts last week. The Cougars won the singles matches all in straight sets. The only set the Mountaineers took in the match was the second set of #1 doubles, before the team dropped the third set by a 6-0 score. The team last season con- sisted of six senior starters, so this is the first varisty action for everyone on the team. BASEBALL Black Knights win Trojan Classic Lake-Lehman scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie asthe Black Knights defeated Nanticoke Area 5-3 on Saturday in the champion- ship game of the Trojan Classic. Steve Moyer collected a pair of hits for Lake-Lehman and ended 2-for-4 on the day. Greg Woronko pitched the first seven innings, allowing the three runs on five hits. John Sharkus completed the game, pitching the final two innings to earn the mound win. He struck out three Trojans in his two innings of work. Matt Mont- gomery, Moyer, Chris Navin and Sharkus of Lake-Lehman were named to the All-Tournament team. DYB girls win Crossin Tourney Shannon Thomas led the way for Dallas Youth Basketball with a game high 16 points and was awarded the most valuable player of the Crossin Tournament. Dallas Youth Basketball won the championship with a 44-14 victory over Shanix (WVW). Twelve teams from the valley competed in the tournament. Other members of the winning team scoring were Meredith Lacey 13 points, Jackie Hardwick 8 points, Rosalyn Wentko 6 points and Caitlin Dukas 1 point. Playing a good defensive game for Dallas Youth Basketball were Halli Williams, Ashleigh King, Brooke Blase and Kara Ringler. Dallas Youth Basket- ball defeated Gate of Heaven 29 to 22 in semi-final action. 4th grade boys fall at CYC tournament The DYB 4th grade boys team is currently participating in the CYC 4th grade boys tournament. The team lost their opening game to St. Al's 20-8. Mike Kravitsky scored 2 points while Peter Steve was the leading rebounder. Matt Alfano and A.J. Pugliese led the defense. Dallas stayed alive in the double elimination event with a 21-14 win over Holy Family. Mark Covert led the way with 10 points, while Doug Harding and Eric Tucker scored 4 each. Kyle Arnaud added 1 point. DYB was eliminated from the tournament with a 24-10 loss to Gate of Heaven Green. Mike Kravistky led Dallas with 4 points, Kyle Arnaud added 2 points. Patrick Murray led Gate of Heaven with a game high 12 points.
