The Dallas Post Section 2 March 8, 2000 Sports Temperince earns state wrestling berth Damien Temperine of Dallas High School earned fifth place on Saturday at the regional wres- tling tournament to earn a posi- tion in the state tournament to be: held later this month. He came up through the losers’ bracket and defeated a wrestler from Pius X 3-2 to capture the fifth and final state qualifying position. Temperine had five matches in two days and will be the only representative from a Back Moun- tain school at the state tourna- ment. Storm wins gold at Keystone Games The Back Mountain Storm U- 16 Boys Soccer Team won the gold medal at the Keystone Win- ter Games held at the Wyoming Valley Soccer Dome on Saturday. The Storm, coached by Chris Harrison, won all four games in its bracket. In its semi-final game, Back Mountain beat West Chester 2-1 with Tim Faneck of Shaver- town scoring both goals. In the finals, The Storm beat Northeast Attack 3-2. Ryan love, Chip Harrison and Luke Haile scored the goals for the winners. Other members of the team include Patrick Goodell, Chris Kabosky, Hans Bottesch, Brian McMahon, Jesse Conyngham, Gary Wasser and Jamie Rhodes. DYB 7th boys fall in GOH tourney The DYB 7th grade boys tour- nament team recently finished play in the Gate of Heaven tour- nament. Dallas defeated Regis 77-35behind 23 points from Matt Kelly and 16 from Curtis Montz. Michael Lloyd added 5 points and Ryan Marascio 2. In the second round, Gate of Heaven defeated Dallas 78-60. Jimmy Schwerdtman scored 13 points while D.J. Molino had 10. Matt Daube added 6 points. In the consolation game, Leh- man defeated Dallas 64-46. Leh- man was led by Matt Straub with 20 points and Matt Shiskowski with 13. Dallas was led by Eric Samanas with 7 points and John Paul Parulski with 6. Gymnasts qualify for state tournament Members of the level 9 team from Northeast Gymnastics re- cently competed in sectionals, held in Waynesboro. DYB 8th grade girls win GOH tourney Dallas Youth Basketball 8th grade girls used a very balanced scoring attack to defeat Gate of Heaven 68-22 in the finals of the Gate of Heaven Tournament. Dallas Youth Basketball jumped out to a 19 to 0 1st quarter lead and finished the game 68 to 22 winners. Leading the way for Dallas Youth Basketball were Meredith Lacey 15 points, Jackie Hardwick 10 points, Halli Williams 9 points, Shannon Thomas, Rosalyn Wentko 8 points apiece, Ashleigh King, Caitlin Dukas 6 points each, Kara Ringler 4 points and Brooke Blase 2 points.
