6 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, February 16, 2000 Entries accepted for 19th annual Rossetti Art Contest Students in grades 7-12 are invited to enter the 19th Annual Suzanne Maria Rossetti Memo- rial Juried Art Contest. Joe and Sue Hand of Dallas sponsor the contest in memory of the daugh- ter of Louise and the*late Peter Rossetti of Saugus, M.A. The contest is open to any 7th through 12th grade student who ~ resides in, or attends and public, private, or parochial school within the school districts of Dallas, Le- hman, Tunkhannock or North- west, or any 7th-12th grade stu- dents, who study art with any private instructor teaching within those areas. Entries must be delivered to Sue Hand's Imagery, 35 Main Street, Dallas, before February 23. They will be judged sepa- rately on each grade level in a variety of categories including pencil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, ink, scratchboard, mixed me- dia, fibers, photography, prints, and miniature drawings and paintings. Photographs must be at least 8” x 10”. No entry may : exceed 40 inches either direction, frame and/or mat included. All entries must be mounted or matted, or framed (exception: works on canvas board or stretched canvas or 3-D entries), and must be accompanied by an entry form, available from school art teachers or from Sue Hand's Imagery. All matted and/or framed artwork must have a hanger for the back. Each stu- dent may submit a total of three - (3) entries. Ribbons will be awarded in twelve different categories on each separate grade level by two panels of judges. In addition, a separate awards jury will assign many com- munity-sponsored awards. Misericordia students offer tax help Accounting and business stu- dents at College Misericordia will again participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), offering free assistance in filling out tax returns. The bride is the granddaughter of the late Alton and Ruth Sprout and the late Jack and Grace Richardson. The groom is the grandson of Marie McHugh, Wilkes-Barre, and the late John J. McHugh; Adam C. Crahall, Bear Creek, and the late Stella Crahall. Mrs. Crahall is a graduate of Dallas High School. She graduated summa cum laude from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Winter parking ordinance remains in effect in Kingston Township Kingston Township Police Chief James Balavage would like to re- mind residents the winter park- ing ordinance remains in effect through March 31. Under this ordinance residents are prohib- ited from parking vehicles on town- ship streets between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily. The Chief also reminds resi- dents that vehicles are not per- mitted to park on Township streets during snow storms, or for eight (8) hours after the storm ends. The ordinance is designed to keep the streets open and clear so that snow removal measures can be effectively undertaken by the Public Works Department. CWRT schedules monthly meeting The monthly meeting of the Wyoming Valley Civil War Round Table is set for Thursday, Febru- ary 17, at the American Legion in Dallas. Lake Township mails 2000 taxes Ruth Orloski, Lake Township Tax Collector, notes that the 2000 County Municipal Property and Per Capita Taxes were mailed Monday, Jan. 13. Anyone not receiving their tax bills should notify her immedi- ately. The Tax Collector also re- quests that persons who have moved and are no longer resi- dents of the township should con- tact her. All tax bills are mailed directly to the homeowner.
