ey re rm pe een 2 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, February 16, 2000 Dallas Fire Chief issues emergency response report ‘Dallas Fire Chief, Brett Slocum, released the following annual re- sponse report for Dallas Fire and Ambulance for 1999. Dallas Fire Department re- sponded to 247 calls for the year using 1,279 man-hours, and Dal- las Ambulance responded to 820 emergency calls for the year using over 3,300 man-hours. The re- sponses are broken down as fol- lows: Fire Department: 60 motor - ~ vehicle accidents, 14 brush fires, 8 carbon monoxide alarms, 50 false alarms, 2 hazardous mate- rial responses, 32 structure fires, 8 vehicle fires, 7 assists to other departments, and 66 “other” emer- gency calls. Ambulance responses were broken down as follows: Approximately 40% Residential, 30% to elderly care facilities, 10% motor vehicle accidents and 20% miscellaneous (commercial facili- ties, assists to police and fire de- partments, doctors offices, schools, etc.) Chief Slocum once again, re- quests all residents to make and effort to please put large reflective numbers on your houses and mail boxes to assist both the fire and ambulance departments in locat- ing your house in the event of an emergency. Dallas Borough taxes mailed Dallas Borough tax collector advises tax payers that the 2000 county/municipal real estate and per capita taxes were mailed with a date ,of issue of February 16, 2000. State parks seeking lifeguards The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is looking for candidates to fill numerous summer lifeguard positions at state parks. Lifeguards are needed from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, and must have lifeguarding, first-aid and cardiopulmonary-resuscita- tion (CPR) certificates before beginning in May. State park lifeguards start at $6.14 an hour. Those staying through Labor Day are awarded bonuses.
