Leading the way offensively for Burger King were Tam Morris 21 points and Ashleigh King 14 points. Playing a good defensive game for Burger King were Krystal Derhammer, Amanda Szczucki, Kelly Corbett and Rachel Perry. Dallas Lions 55 - Josies Italian Water Ice 23 Rosalyn Wentko dominated the game offensively, defensively and controlled the boards with a game high 27 points to give her team the victory 55 to: 23. ' Other members of the Dallas Lions scoring at- tack were Brooke Blase 10 points, Jenni- fer Konopki, Samantha O’Brien and Nicole Allan 6 points each. Leading the way for Josies Italian Water Ice were Jodi Dickson 14 points, Nikki Gelso 8 points and Michelle Luksh 1 point. The defense was led by Samantha Decker. Eye Care Specialist 40 - Dallas Rotary 33 Corey Patton led the way with her game high 24 points, followed by Halli Williams 7 points, Megan Savage and Tiffany Gergel 4 points apiece. Lauren Noreika played a very good defensive game. Leading the way for the Dallas Rotary were Rebekah Clay 16 points, Meredith Lacey 13 points and Caitlin McGuire 4 points. The defense was led by Mallory Carey and Jackie Opel. Kerestes leads EPenn to OT win Tim Kerestes scored 23 points, while Adam Schoonover and Phil Miller added 8 each, as Eastern Penn Supply won it’s sixth straight with a 43- 42 win overtime victory JAZ] over Gilroy Real Estate. Diepietro 28 Kevin Domzalski scored 22 points to lead Baird Stone to a 36-28 victory over Ann B. Diepietro, D.D.S. The win kept Baird (9-2) in first place in the league. Baird can win the regular season cham- pionship next week with a win or aloss by Intermetro. A loss by Baird Stone and a win by Intermetro would give Intermetro the regular season title. Colin Baird added 2 points while Matt Empfield led the defense. Diepietro (5-6) was led by Erich Mahle with 16 points and Joe Wyberski with 12. Chris Roman and Zach Turchin led the defense. Applewood Golf Course 46 - Bonner Chevrolet 31 Tom Mulhern scored 18 points and Nikolai Filak 13 to lead Applewood Golf Course (4-7) over Bonner Chevrolet 46- 31. Sean Gilroy added 4 points for the winners. Bonner (4-7) was led by Matt Daube with 22 points, John Paul Parulski with 4, and Todd Derhammer with 3. Sneaker King 43 - The Fieldhouse 41 The dominant inside play of Sam Brown proved to be the difference as Sneaker King defeated The Fieldhouse 43-41 in overtime. Brown scored a game-high 20 points, followed by Jimmy Schwerdtman with 14 and Joe Bednash with 4. The win improved the team’s record to 3-8. Chris Kester led The Fieldhouse (7-4) with 19 points, including 5 three pointers. An- drew Schweitzer added 6 points and Jon Baker 3. Intermetro 22 - Pace Physical 19 Carl Seitz scored 7 points and Tyler Droppers 6 as Intermetro (8-3) defeated Pace Physical (5-6) 22-19. Pat Harmon added 3 points and Tom Van Horn 2 for the winners. Pace was led by Elijah Miller with 9 points and Chris Mounce with 7. Eric Dal Santo keyed the defense. The regular season will conclude next week, with the playoffs set to begin on Feb. 6. The Dallas girls took a tight 97-89 win while the Sem boys turned back the Mountaineers 108-73. POST PHOTOS/JIM PHILLIPS SPORTS ROUNDUP | BOYS BASKETBALL Dallas 74, Lake-Lehman 65 The underclassmen combination of Jay Carroll, John Simonitis, and Herb Bresller scored 64 of the 74 Mountaineer points in helping Dallas defeat Lake-Lehman Jan. 18. Carroll led all scorers in the game with 26 points. Simonitis was right be- hind Carroll with 22 points while Bressler tallied 16. The Black Knights top three, all seniors, combined for 49 points offen- sively. Matt Loftus scored 19 points in earning the high mark for Lake-Lehman. Russ Mosier added 18 and Dom Castrignano 12. Lehman held a one- point lead after the third quarter but Dallas outscored the Knights 24-14 in the final eight minutes to earn the nine- point win. Tunkhannock 72, Lake-Lehman 64 Tunkhannock’s defense held the Black Knights’ offense to only nine points in the first quarter and seven points in the third in earning an eight-point win over the weekend. Lake-Lehman’s offense was led by Dom Castrignano with 21 points and Matt Loftus with 13 points. Brian Nolar added 11 points. Lake-Lehman shot a dismal 11-for-30 from the foul line. GIRLS BASKETBALL Valley West 72, Lehman 57 The Lady Knights let Valley West sprint to a 15-6 first quarter lead and couldn't catch up Monday night. Danielle Kern made 14 of 16 free throws on the way to a game-high 20 points; Jen Frank had 14 and Kieran Lucarino 12. : Pittston 59, Dallas 51 Tied after a low-scoring first half, Dal- las couldn’t hold off the Patriettes down the stretch. The teams combined for only 5 points in the second quarter, then exploded for 48 in the third. Stephanie Simonitis scored 17 points to lead the Mounts, followed by Rachel Kukosky with 12 and Jen Noon’s 9. Each netted one three pointer. Dallas 48, Hanover Area 44 The Mountaineers used a second half 27-20 edge to defeat the Hawkeyes Jan. 19. Dallas made 2/3 of its free throws in | the game to earn the slight victory. Se- nior Stephanie Simonitis led the scoring with 14 points in the game, followed by the 13 points contributed by freshman Rachel Kukosky. Jenn Noon added nine points. Hanover Area led 15-10 after one quarter but Dallas won each remaining quarter individually. Coughlin 67, Dallas 58 The Crusaders outscored the Moun- taineers 39-29 over the middle two peri- ods as they defeated Dallas Jan. 21 to open the second half. The Mountaineers again struggled at the free throw line in a tight game, missing out on narrowing the margin. Stephanie Simonities scored 20 points to lead the offense while guard Jenn Noon added 16. Lake-Lehman 44, Tunkhannock 41 The Black Knights rebounded from a three-point halftime deficit to earn a three- point lead after the third quarter en route to a three-point win over the Tigers this weekend. Kieran Lucarino led the Lake- Lehman offense with 13 points. Danielle Kern and Jen Frank combined for 18 more, with Kern scoring ten and Frank eight. Kern had an impressive 6-for-8 showing at the foul line. Kari Maskalis hit a key three-point field goal in the game. GIRLS SWIMMING Dallas 97, Wyoming Seminary 89 The Mountaineers earned a very hard- fought victory over the Blue Knights of Wyoming Seminary Jan. 19 at Wyoming Area’s pool in Exeter. Seminary won nine events but Dallas gobbled up the major- ity of the points for second and third and fourth places in order to pull out the team victory. The overall victor was decided in the final event, the 100 Breaststroke, with Dallas pulling out a 1-2 finish with Erin Allardyce winning and Jenn Arthur earning second place. Lacey Cooper (100 Back) and Shannon Gaffney (200 Free) earned the other two first place Dallas finishes. Allardyce and Cooper added second place finishes. in the 100 Fly and 50 Free respectively. Erin Cooper and Colleen Murphy finished second and third in the diving event. Cheryl Kirkwood brought home a second (200 IM) and a See ROUNDUP, pg 10
