Alyson Bevan scored on an assist from Janelle Perlis after the Tunkhannock goalie stopped Perlis’s shot. Lehman had a one-shot edge in shots on goal, 12 to 11, and 12 corners to the Tigers’ eight. Janelle Janiczek stopped seven Tunkhannock shots. Dallas 4, Nanticoke 0 The Mountaineers breezed by Nanticoke Monday to set up today’s (Sept. 22) showdown with Lehman. Molly Sav- age scored three times and Rachel Kukosky added the fourth goal. Jenn Noon had two assists, with Brittany Bartolini and Jenn Yurkon picking up one apiece. The Dallas defense limited Nanticoke to two shots and no corners. Lehman 7, Hazleton Area 0 Black Knight Terri Peiffer set up four goals and scored one of her own as Leh- man blew out Hazleton on Wednesday of last week. Carrie Thorne and Rachel Kasper each added a pair of goals to the Knight offensive total. Janelle Perlis and Colleen Mahon also scored. Goalie Janel Janiczek made 5 saves to earn the shut- out. : Dallas 1 Honesdale 0 (OT) Dallas senior Jennifer Noon scored 6 minutes into overtime as Dallas defeated Honesdale last Wednesday afternoon. Her goal came off a penalty corner and im- proved Dallas’ overtime record to 1-1 with the new format. Keeper Melonie Sappe made seven saves for Dallas and earned another shutout victory. SOCCER Lehman 8, Meyers 1 It was no contest as the Black Knights visited Wilkes-Barre. Dave Walter started the scoring with a penalty kick in the sixth minute, and Lehman had five goals before Meyers got on the board. Tony Van Scoy and Drew Salko each scored twice, and Walter had two assists. T.d. Dougherty had a goal and an assist. Lehman 4, Crestwood 1 Senior Tom Brislin and Junior B.J. Lewis each scored a pair of goals to rally the Black Knights from an early 1-0 deficit. T.J. Dougherty set up two of those four goals for the Knights. Keeper Russ Mosier improved his record and the team’s record to 3-0 with the win. Dallas 2, Coughlin 1 After falling behind 1-0 shortly after half time, Mountaineer midfielder John Isaac scored to tie the game. In the new sudden death overtime system, Adam Clay of Dallas scored 3 minutes in and gave Dallas the victory, improving the team’s record to 3-0. Dallas 2, Bishop Hoban 0 The Mountaineers maintained their hold on first place with a shutout victory against Bishop Hoban on Friday at home. Ryan Love put Dallas ahead 1-0 at half- time with a goal on a pass from Ricky Branco. Branco then scored in the sec- ond half to provide the final margin. CaptainJesse Williams assisted Branco’s ‘goal. Keeper Nate Hoffman made four saves to preserve the Dallas shutout. Dallas 5, Wyoming Valley West 4 Sophomore forward Ryan Love scored with three minutes remaining Saturday night to break a 4-4 tie as Dallas upset Wyoming Valley West and made a major statement to the rest of the league. After falling behind 1-0 in the opening 20 seconds, Dallas forward Ricky Branco scored to knot the score at 1. Love then alternated with a Valley West player twice as the score was 3-3 at halftime. Valley West then scored with about 15 minutes remaining before Andrew George tied it. Love then punched in this third of the game for the winner. This improves Dallas’ record to 5-0. FOOTBALL Dallas 49, Hanover Area 6 Matt Jackson finished with 178 yards and two rushing touchdowns as Dallas romped past Hanover Saturday. Dallas controlled the clock by grinding out over 360 yards of rushing offense and six touchdown runs. Matt Acri added 98 rushing yards and a touchdown as well in the backfield. Other rushing touchdowns came from quarterback Chuck Suppon and reserves Cory Gallant and Jonathon Lorah. Jackson also added an intercep- tion return for a score on defense for the Mountaineers. Suppon went to the air six times, completing four for 32 yards. The Dallas defense kept the Hawkeyes in check, allowing just 108 yards each on the ground and in the air. Dallas punted only once, to seven times for Hanover. The only weak spot was in holding on to the ball, as Dallas fumbled three times. Dallas visits GAR (1-2 overall) for a night game next Saturday. Lake-Lehman wins by forfeit The Black Knights picked up their third straight win without ever putting on the pads as Bishop Hoban was unable to field a team Saturday. Lehman travels to Nanticoke (2-1 overall) next Friday night. VOLLEYBALL Bishop Hoban 2, Dallas 1 Dallas won a tight first game before dropping the final two against Bishop Hoban. Dallas was led by Kim Derhammer, who had seven points and five digs. Amber Koes had three Kills, three aces, and four digs while Sarah Nichol had four digs and two blocks and a pair of kills. Dallas’ first game win was by a score of 16-14, before falling 15-3 and 15-10 in the final two. Crestwood 2 Lake Lehman 1 Lehman captured the first game 15- 12, but the Knights fell in the final two as Crestwoodd defeated Lake Lehman last week. Lehman was led by its captains, with Jen Frank finishing with eight kills, three points, and three digs, and with Stacy Rosenbaum finishing with seven digs and four points. Sarah Davis had seven points, five assists, three kills, and two digs in addition to the effort of the captains. Vendors welcome for craft show The Dallas High School Soccer Club is sponsoring the annual Fall Craft Show on Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Dallas Senior High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 100 vendors from Pennsylvania and New Jersey will be represented selling various crafts including semi-precious gemstone jewelry, needlework, candles, ceramics, potpourri, quilts, stenciled lamp shades, woodcrafts, wreaths, handmade dolls and homemade candy.
