14 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, September 22, 1999 "OBITUARIES LaROY ZIEGLER LaRoy Ziegler, 93, of Dallas, died Sept. 18, 1999, at Manorcare Health Services, Kingston. Born Jan. 11, 1906, in Wilkes- Barre, he was the son of the late James and Keturah Bunney Ziegler. He was a graduate of the Uni- versity of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Busi- ness. He was em- ployed by the Flintkote Corp., NJ, as a district sales manager for more than 40 years. He for- merly worked for BE. Eastern Pennsylvania Supply Co., Wilkes-Barre. : He resided on Carverton Road in Kingston Township from 1930 to 1996. He was elected Supervisor of Kingston Township and served more than 20 years as supervisor. During this time he was elected chairman of the board of supervi- sors and also served as secre- tary/treasurer. He was instru- mental in creating the township water recreation and planning and zoning commission and construct- ing the facilitities for Kingston Townshp administration and fire department. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kingston Town- ship police pension fund. serving as treasurer for more than 15 years and received recognition by the township supervisors in July 1997 for his dedication. He was active in numerous Masonic functions; a 50-year member of the Wyoming Masonic Lodge 468 F&AM; Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; and [rem Temple, Wilkes-Barre and Dallas. He served on the Director's Staff of Irem Temple for numerous years, and as its treasurer. He was a member of the Carverton United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the Thursday Lunch Club and the Westmoreland Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina Sword Ziegler; and brother, James Ziegler. Surviving is his daughter, Janet C. Ziegler, Wilkes-Barre. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with the Rev. Jackson Cox, pastor of Carverton United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Elko, with whom she had been residing for the last year. ~ Born July 26, 1925, at Sorber Mountain in Lake Township, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Grace (Brown) Sorber. She resided in Beaumont for 36 years before moving to Lake Silkworth. Upon graduation from the Overbrook School for the Blind, she became a house mother there for several years. She was a member of Noxen Bible Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A.; broth- ers, Hiram, Robert, James and Phillip; and sisters, Mona Wolfe, Ferne Smith, Essie Wandel and Betty Moore. Surviving in addition to her daughter, are her son, Edward A., II, Beaumont; four grandchildren; and sisters, Ione Burnell, Harveys Lake and Guida McGuire, Hershey.
