Parents are to report directly to the auditorium. The staff at the Dallas Middle School believes that effective parent- teacher communication is essential in enhancing student success. All parents are urged to attend this initial meeting of the school year. At the conclusion of the program, refreshments will be served. Stolarick named to honor society Jennifer Stolarick of Dallas has accepted mem- bership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored during a cam- pus ceremony this fall at Penn- JEN STOLARICK sylvania State University. The National Society of Colle- giate Scholars (NSCS) is a highly selective, national, non-profit hon- ors organization. Founded in 1994, NSCS recognizes first and second year undergraduate stu- dents who excel academically. The Society was established on the principle that with scholar- ship comes a responsibility to develop leadership and a duty to perform service. The Guid- ance Office is in full swing with a number of activities and events. Our seniors, ,the Class of 2000, take center stage at this time of the year as we plan our senior meetings. Each senior and their parents received a letter in Au- gust to set up a meeting with their counselor to do a credit check for graduation and talk about post secondary school plans. Some late afternoon and early evening dates are available, so if you have not responded as of yet, please contact our office at 674-7218. If you have already responded by mail, we will contact you shortly with a date and time. Several important dates regard- ing standardized tests should be noted. The deadline for post- marked registraton for the SAT to be given at Dallas on Saturday, November 6 is October 1, 1999. See your counselor for a registra- tion booklet. The PSAT will be given at Dallas on Saturday, Oc- tober 16. This test is highly rec- ommended for college bound jun- iors and should be taken before the SAT. The PSAT is also the test used to determine National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists and fi- nalists. The cost of this test is $9.00. Checks should be made payable to Dallas High School, the deadline is October 1. The NEDT test is once again being offered to all sophomores and freshmen. The test will be held on Wednesday, October 6. The cost of the NEDT is $7.00 and checks should be made payable to Dallas High School. The dead- Just Say, "CHARGE IT" line to register is October 1. Most colleges suggest that students take the NEDT twice (9th and 10th grade). PSAT in the junior year (fall) and the SAT no more than three times beginning in the spring of the junior year.
