Boys fall league basketball signups Aug. 31 Dallas Youth Basketball will hold signups for its Boys Fall League on Tuesday, Aug. 31, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Middle School. Players entering the 6th, 7th and 8th grades who reside within the Dallas School District are eligible. Sessions will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from Sept. 1-Oct. 20. #® Youth Basketball signups Dallas Youth Basketball will hold signups for its boys and girls Winter League on Thursday, Sept. 9 from 6-9 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Middle School. Cost is S35 per player or $50 for a family. For the fundraiser, players have the option sell seven calendars or pay an additonal $15 per player. Jobson, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, at Applewood Golf Course, Mt. Zion Road, Harding. Proceeds will benefit the ALS Foundation and Paul Jobson family. Tony Ruggere aces 7th at Irem Tony Ruggere of Irem Temple Country Club recorded his first career hole-in-one at Irem Temple Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 20. He aced the 199 yard 7th hole using a 4-iron. The 1999-2000 school year in the Dallas School District will be- gin Tuesday, Aug. 31. Following is opening information for each school. : High School Mr. Frank P. Galicki, Principal of the Dallas Senior High School, announces the high school begins at 8 a.m. and dismisses at 3 p.m. Parents are requested to consult the bus routes published in the newspapers to determine their child’s bus assignment and de- parture points. Any concerns re- garding bus transportation should be addressed to Mrs. Susan Farr, Bus Coordinator, at the Dallas School District Administration offices, Conyngham Ave., Dallas. All Dallas Senior High School seniors, juniors and sophomores should consult the bulletin board listings in the cafeteria, and re- port to their assigned homerooms at 8 a.m. School freshman are requested to consult the bulletin board listings at the main office entrance and report to their assigned homerooms. Secondary students who have not registered for school - should report to the building of- fice of their respective schools. The school lunch program will begin on August 31. The first day of school is a full-day session. Parents are reminded that stu- dent lunches for senior high school students are ala-carte. Middle School Sixth-, seventh-, and eighth- grade students will report to the middle school building between 7:45 and 8 a.m. Sixth-grade stu- dents, upon arrival at school, will report directly to the auditorium. Seventh-grade students, upon arrival at school, will report di- rectly to the gymnasium. Eighth- grade students will report directly to the cafeteria. At this time, a short orientation program includ- ing assignment to homerooms will be made. Students will then be instructed to report to their homerooms in preparation for their first day of school. 3650. Dallas Senior High. To insure greater safety of stu- dent lockers, combination pad- locks will be available to rent for a $2 refundable fee. Locks will be available from homeroom teach- ers. Personal locks are not per- mitted. Students will be able to pur- chase a nutritious lunch begin- ning with the first day of school. The price of a Class A lunch is $1.40. Dallas Elementary On August 31, first to fifth grade students will be attending full day sessions from 9:10 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Parents should consult the bus routes published in the news- papers to determine their child’s bus assignment and departure points. It is requested that stu- dentsrideabus to and from school the first day to facilitate student awareness of their bus assign- ment and to aid the school district in maintaining accurate and com- prehensive student transportation records. If it is necessary for a parent to accompany a child to school, it is suggested that the student ride the bus and the par- ent meet the student at the school building. Regular student lunches will ‘be available the first day. Elemen- tary lunches are $1.30, reduced lunches are 40¢ and milk is 40¢. Students may bring their entire lunch or may purchase their bev- erage. Snacks are available. Kindergarten students will at- tend pre-arranged sessions on Tuesday, Aug. 31 and Wednes- day, Sept. 1. On Thursday, Sept. 2, morning students will take buses to school and be dismissed at 10:30 a.m. Afternoon students will be picked up for a 2:15 p.m. arrival at school and will be dis- missed with the other students at the end of the day. On Friday, Sept. 3, they will attend regularly scheduled kindergarten sessions. To facilitate student room as- signments, class lists have been posted at Dallas Elementary School. First grade students will report to the library. Teacher and parent volunteers will be available to aid students. Wycallis Elementary Students in the first through fifth grades will attend full day session from 9:15 a.m. to 3:45 p-m. The school building will open at9a.m. Student supervision will begin at that time. On the first day, students in grades two to five will report di- rectly to their classrooms. First grade students will gather in the cafeteria, where teachers and vol- unteers will assist them in finding their classrooms. Bus routes and schedules have | been published in the newspa- pers.
