ne Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, August 25, 1999 3 Dallas Woman's Club Choral reunion The Dallas Woman's Club Choral held its 61st reunion this summer at the home of Shirley Goode, Dallas. The Dallas Woman's Club Choral reorganized in 1948 under the direction of Mrs. Betty Palton after a few years interval when gas was rationed due to the war, and they were unable to get together. Prior to that time, the Choral was directed by Mrs. Sara Sanford. Mrs. William Baker Sr. was accompahist from the beginning. Fourteen Choral members attended the reorganization meeting at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Eck, and there were 21 members by the time they were ready to sing. Betty Palton had worked in New York City and through her efforts and connections there, one of the most outstanc ng events for the Chorale was their singing during the Christmas Holiday Season in Grand Central Station, first in 1953 and for several years thereafter. The Choral also sang for Veterans Hospital events, Retreat Hospital, Old Ladies Home on River St., Woman's Clubs in the Lobby of Miners Bank at Christmas, thé Christmas Pageant on Public Square and many others. 0 Reunion organizers, from left, Evelyn Eck, Mary Reese, Shirley Goode, Dorothy Nichol.
