Attending summer camp gives the boys the opportunity to work on advancement and Merit Badges. The first year scouts had the chance to use the patrol method for the first time. Brodmerkel, a substance abuse counselor at College Misericordia, was recognized for her work in substance abuse education at an awards ceremony. Douglas Sherwood named to honors list Douglas Arthur Sherwood, Class of 2001 at Connecticut College, has been named to dean’s honors for the spring semester. Dean's honors recognizes students who have received a grade point average of 3.3-3.69 Sherwood, an economics major, resides at Newberry Estate in Dallas. Beadsworth named to Syracuse dean's list Barbara Beadsworth of Gordon Avenue in Dallas was recently named to the spring Dean’s List at Syracuse University. She is a junior majoring in retailing. Tom Byron attends youth conference Tom Byron of Dallas, son of Joan and Tom Byron, met with Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski, during his July visit to Washington, D.C. to participate in the National Young Leaders Conference, a non- profit, non-partisan leadership program in the nation’s capital that offers young people an opportunity to discuss major issues of the day with the men and women who shape the country’s policies and laws. Tom will be a senior this fall at the Lawrencevile School. Late elementary registrants may not be assigned to the pre: ferred school building. All kindergarten through fifth grade students are to register at the administration building. Kaufman named Student of the Quarte The Lake Silkworth Area Lions recently honored Rebecca Kaufman. as the Student of the Quarter from Lake-Lehman High School. ; Rebecca and her parents, David and Barbara Kaufman from Shavertown, were guests of the Lions at a dinner meeting held at the Red Rooster Restaurant in Pikes Creek. Ms. Kaufman was presented with a monetary gift and a certificate in recognition of her. outstanding school and community achievement. While at Lake- - Lehman High School, Rebecca was involved with Student Council, Foreign Language Club, S.A.C.D., the Honor Society, and the basketball team. She was captain of the volleyball team.
