To regis- CHURCH Air Show will feature military planes The United States Air Force F-15 ‘Eagle” and the famous World War II P-51 Mustang, “Big Beautiful Doll” will join the skies over the Wilkes-Barre /Scranton International Airport July 31 and Aug. 1‘at Armed Forces Air Show ‘99. The dissimilar formation flight reflects the United States Air Force's pride in air power from past to present. The F-15 “Eagle” is the Air Force’s air-superiority fighter. Excelling in air-to-air defense tactics, the Eagle has a maximum speed of more than Mach 2.5 at 36,000 feet. The P-51 “Mustang” was perhaps the best fighter of World War II, accounting for almost half the enemy aircraft destroyed in Europe by U.S. fighters, and its range was more than enough to cover the furthest B- 17 strikes. Today, highly modified versions fly high on the air-racing circuit, and the Mustang is one of the most desirable warbirds on the market, known as “the Cadillac of Warbirds.” Armed Forces Air Show ‘99 will also feature the U.S. Air Force “Thunderbirds” Jet Demonstration Team and the U.S. Navy Parachute Team, the “Leap Frogs,” who will demonstrate precision free-fall techniques as well as Top Gun fighter demonstrations by the F-15 “Eagle” and the F/A-18 “Hornet”. Multiple fly -by passes will be made by the United States Air Force F-117 Nighthawk “Stealth” fighter. Take advantage of great photo opportunities at Air Show ‘99. Show Gates open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free parking and shuttle bus - Exits 49, 50, 51 off Interstate 81. Handicapped persons can be discharged at the entrance gates.
