There were far too many sights and sounds for the column. I'll just sum’it up by saying it was a lovely evening, full of activities, full of people, a reflection of the tremendous amount of hard work put into it by the many volunteers — and I enjoyed the experiment. Marilyn Rudolph announces that the third special event for the “Route for Reading — Take a Hike!” program will be held Tuesday, July ‘27, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. ‘Outdoor theme coming up for reading program “Winders and Sliders Day” will feature Jim Stout from the Penn- sylvania Fish Commission, ‘who will talk about — surprise!\ — snakes. There will be stories, games, crafts, and snacks. Regis- tration will take place during the week of July 19. Attendance is limited to 30. The final party of the year, titled “Walk on the Wild Side,” will be held on Friday, August 6, 1:30-3 p.m. in the library. Please RSVP! Jacquie Prothero, the PHEAA student from last summer, has returned to work at the library this summer. The “Give a Hoot” program on June 19 featured Susan Gallagher, a naturalist from the Carbon County Environmental Center, who brought three live owls and presented a most inter- esting program about the owls’ habitats, feeding, young, and nests. Right now there is a very at- tractive display in the Library case about the production of “As You Like It” by College Misericordia oh July 16-18.
