Tobey Humphrey of RR 3, Dallas, enlisted in the United States Air Force's delayed enlist- ment program. Maria is a June 1999 graduate of Dallas High School. Upon completion of the Air Force's six week basic training course, she is scheduled to receive technical training as an aerospace ground equipment apprentice. Maria will be earning credits toward an associate degree in applied sciences through the com- munity college of the Air Force while attending basic and other Air- Force technical training schools. e000 Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Donald R. Faux, son of Donald E. and Christine A. Faux, of RR 3, Dallas, recently completed a six- month deployment to the Medi- terranean Sea, Arabian Gulf and Adriatic Sea while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, home ported in Norfolk, VA. Faux's ship is the lead ship of the USS Enteprise Battle Group. During the deployment, Faux’s ship traveled more than 50,000 miles to participate in two high profile operations. During Opera- tion Southern Watch,Faux’s ship enforced NATO sanctions imposd against Iraq after the 1991 Gulf War, which included monitoring the no-fly zone over Southern Iraq and conducting maritime inter- ception operations. In Operation Desert Fox, units from the battle gorup hit Iraqi military targets capable of pro- ducing weapons of mass destruc- tion. During the 70-hour assault more than 300 Tomahawk mis- silesand 691,000 pounds ordance were used in the aerial campaign. While deployed, Faux and fel- low crew members had the op- portunity to visit Souda Bay, Crete; Cannes, France; Livorno and Trieste, Italy; Antalya, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. The 1994 graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School, joined the Navy in August 1995. PV2 James Smith of Shaver- town was promoted to his present grade during a ceremony at the Plymouth Armory of Battery C, 1st Battalion, 109th Field Artil- lery, Pennsylvania National Guard. PV2 Smith is a cannon crewmember in Battery C. His duties include preparing a 155- milllimeter, self-propelled howit- zer to fire its rounds miles down range. Smith is a 1998 graduate of Dallas High School. He is study- ing health science at Lock Haven University and would like to be- come an atheltic trainer. He is the son of Dean and Tammy Rattigan of Shavertown. Marine Lance Cpl. Ryan K. Healy, a 1998 graduate of Lake- Lehman High School recently was promoted to his present rank while serving with Marine Corps Secu- rity Force Company, Naval Sub- marine Base, Kings Bay, GA. Healy was promoted based on sustained superior job perfor- mance and proficiency in his des- ignated specialty. He joined the Marine Corps in June 1998. Dallas class of '74 alters reunion plans The Dallas Class of 1974, 25th Class Reunion being held Satur- day, July 3 at Four Seasons Golf Club in Exeter, has been can- celled.
