This popular Auction attraction is making a fresh appearance following a lengthy absence. “I think it became difficult for people to contribute baked goods because so many of them were already volunteering for other parts of the Auction, and there is only so much free time available,” said Linda Fritz, Cake Booth chairperson. Bakers may be in short supply, but the demand for their delectable treats has not wavered. “When we talked about bringing back the bake sale, we were really surprised how much support the idea had,” said Fritz. “Basically, I have been commissioned to get this organized and to make sure we have enough to sell.” The Cake Booth, which used to be held all four nights, will be open one night this year as a way of measuring the public response. “We need additional baked goods if this is going to turn out to be a worthwhile fundraiser,” “We are going to have some wonderful treats for everyone to enjoy.” Linda Fritz Cake booth chairperson said Fritz. “Anyone who wants to contribute can bring items to the booth on Saturday, July 10, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.” Auction volunteers are looking for cookies, brownies, cupcakes, coffee cakes, whole pies and sweet breads. They don’t need to be individually wrapped, as cake booth volunteers will have supplies to package them appropriately. “We ask that people do not bring items which must be refrigerated since baked goods will be on display throughout the day. Candy and frostings which would melt in the warm air are also discouraged,” said Fritz. So far, the Cake Booth Committee has received a commitment from 35 bakers who will be donating something special to the sale. “We are going to have some wonderful treats for everyone to enjoy,” said Fritz. * * IN LOVE WITH SHAKESPEARE?
