Buckley wins Kubis Award Todd M. Buckley, an eighth grade student at the Dallas Middle School, was this year’s recipient of the William W. Kubis Award. The award is presented annually to a student who exemplifies a positive attitude toward the responsibilities inherent in being a good student and citizen. Every year, Mrs. Albert's seventh grade class has a goal of raising $1,000 for the program. This year $1,010 was raised, but the money was not easy to come by. A bake sale near the beginning of the year gave the fundraising a boost of $250. Then, the class was divided into five groups, each group trying to raise as much as possible by raffling off prizes. Katyl wins Sem Trustee Scholarship Matthew Katy! of Dallas was recently awarded a half-tuition Trustee Achievement Scholarship to attend Wyoming Seminary for the 1999-2000 school year. The son of William and Cynthia Katyl, Matthew is active at Dallas Middle School in both athletics and extra-curricular activities. In addition to playing ice hockey, baseball and participating in Boy Scouts, Matthew is a member of Mathcounts and the A-V Club. He will be a freshman at Wyoming Seminary in the fall.
