Ne ie he J ® oe “ ® (= 3 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, June 16, 1999 * 5 » Class of 1999 was born. The first Lake-L.ehman (continued from page 1) that encompasses the lives of teen- agers stopped for just one mo- ment and reality, like change, entered unexpectedly. Angela Davis, class valedictorian, quoted Sarah McLachlan’s “I Will Remem- ber You” with this stanza: “It’s funny how we feel so much / But cannot say a word / We are screaming inside / But can’t be heard.” “What makes each of our books the same is that we can always flip back the pages to remember the old times; each book contains hundreds of empty pages that will be filled up in time,” Trisha Pilosi reminded her class. The Lake- Lehman Class of 1999 will be able to remember. They will remember the motivational speech of Dou- glas Trumbower, a member of the Lake-Lehman Class of 1961, and how he had found success. They will remember the faces of their faculty, friends, and family. They will remember their principals, Mr. John Oliver and Mr. Frederick Sponenburg. Leigh Ann Isaac, president of the student council, provided the class with something else to re- member. She gave a speech out- lining what the school has accom- plished, and what it can accom- plish in the future. The Class of 1999 conquered. The evening ended, Hats were tossed. Years spent in moving up now led to moving out. The Class of 1999 derived, subjuncted, and titrated, but it was now time to do something even more important. The Class of 1999 had to enter the world. Katie Tripp, the class salu- tatorian, remarked, “If a war is to be fought, we will fight it. If wars are to be ended, we will be the ones to banish them.” ; What appeared to be a gradua- tion, was more. What appeared to bea group of teenagers, was more. What appeared to be joy, was more. Disco died and synthesizers soared, but on another note, the class of the 80s had just become the last class of the 90s. 5 “If a war is to be fought, we will fight it. If wars are to be ended, we will be the ones to banish them.” Katie Tripp Salutatorian adjusted Josh Keller's collar; happy Tricia Kernag, left, and Angela Basta; Stephanie Pineno ot with her grandparents, Gil and Vera Tough; Katie Tripp, salutatorian, left, and Angela Davis, valedictorian; Curtis Shoemaker, left, and Elliot Wright provided some music.
