The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, May 19, 1999 Historical Society hosting house & garden tour June 19 The beautiful homes and land- scapes of the historic Glen Sum- mit area of Mountain Top will be opened to the public on June 19 when the Wyoming Historical and Geological Society hosts the Glen Summit House and Garden Tour. The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. that day, rain or shine, and will feature a number of private homes, the former resi- dence and gardens of philanthro- pist F.M. Kirby and Glen Summit's historic chapel and casino. - During the tour, visitors will be able to view the interiors of all participating homes, as well as teers stationed throughout the tour route will be available to pro- vide brief histories of each house and the site. Each visitor will also receive a tour booklet further de- scribing the area. The Kirby residence now The Kirby Episcopal House, will be fully open for tours and will host a buffet luncheon catered by the Westmoreland Club. Tickets for the house tours are. $20 per person for WWHGS mem- bers and $25 for non-members. BACK MOUNTAIN BRIEFS KT paving projects planned for summer The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors has finalized planned . paving projects for 1999. The Township's road paving program will include Beverly Drive, Lakeview Drive, Ellen Drive, West Mt. Airy Road, Sickler Road, Inman Avenue, Shaver Avenue, and a portion of Warden Avenue. The above work will be accomplished by township crews with township equip- ment during the Summer months of 1999. The supervisors have appropriated approximately $50,000 to the township's continuing commitment to have the finest local road System in the area. Mother's Day Tea held at Mountainside More than 40 guests attended a Mother's Day Tea party at Mountainside Manor Personal Care Home in Dallas on Saturday, May 8. Not only were the Mountainside mothers recognized, but all female residents who adopted a staff member for the day. _ All of the Moms were given a corsage and had a wonderful array of cakes, cookies, and donuts made by staff members and relatives. AND MRS. LEONARD HARVEY Harveys celebrating 60th anniversary of marriage «Senior District Justice and Mrs. Leonard D. Harvey of 95 Woodlawn Ave., Dallas, will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on June 1. The Harveys were married in the Meeker M.E. Church on June 1, 1939 by Rev. Mark Krohler. Their attendants were: Florence Davenport Sutton of Lehman; Charlotte Parsons Prideaux (de- ceased), formerly of Trucksville; John Hazeltine, (deceased) of Dallas; James F. Davenport, (deceased) of Lehman; and Victor Cross (deceased) of Sweet Valley. Mrs. Harvey is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Weintz of Meeker Road, Lehman and Mr. Harveys is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harveys of Dallas. The couple has one daughter, Mrs. Karen (Glenn L.) Johnson and two grandchildren, Lee W. Brace Jr., of Centermoreland and Ms. Kassie Su (James E.) Saxe of Sweet Valley. They also have six great-grandchildren, Wayne, Jacqueline, Brandon, Trisha, Kameitri and Sequoia. Mrs. Harvey was employed at Natona Mills retiring 25 years ago and Mr. Harvey was employed at American Chain and Cable Wilkes-Barre, retiring from there in 1970 at which time he became District Justice the position he now holds. The couple will be honored at an open house given by their daughter and son-in-law on May 30, at the OES (Order of Eastern Star) Building on the corner of Foster and Bulford Streets, in Dallas.
