Shavertown Fire Co. gets loan The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors recently approved a $60,000 loan guarantee for the Shavertown Volunteer Fire Company.The loan guarantee by the Township assures Shavertown Volunteer Fire Company of receiving the funds from the Commonwealth Volunteer Loan Assistance Program. The funds will . be used to refinance a portion of the cost of purchasing the Shavertown Volunteer Fire Company’s new ladder truck. The test was given by Steven's instructor, Sifu (teacher) Gary R. Barnes, however the final promo- tion was overseen by Barnes’ in- structor, Paul Molter of the Kenpo Konnection school in Chinchilla. Also included on the panel were guest instructors Master Mark Neylon, 5th dan, and Mr. Robert MacBride, 3rd dan. After thor- oughly evaluating Weber's perfor- mance in a number of different areas including forms (pre-ar- ranged patterns of movement), self-defense techniques, basic kicking and punching skills, com- binations, and free-sparring, the panel unanimously recommended Weber for promotion. The test concluded with a question and answer session in which Weber was asked about various aspects and principles of American Kenpo Karate, as well as what it means to be a Black Belt. Steven's instructor, Gary R. Barnes, expresses his own enthu- siasm. for his student's accom- plishment, “He really worked for this. Steven is our first Black Belt, and I can’t think of a better representative. For someone who is only 15, he possesses all the attributes of a good Black Belt, everything from clean, sharp, pow- erful techniques to the proper at- titude, maturity and respect. Spaghetti dinner at Prince of Peace A spaghetti dinner sponsored by Prince of Peace Church Youth Group, 420 Main St., Dallas will be held Sunday, Mar. 14, from 5-7 p.m. $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12. Trinity Learning Center now accepting preschool registrations Trinity Learning Center, an outreach program to the commu- nity, sponsored by Trinity Presby- terian Church, Dallas, is currently accepting registrations for the 1999-2000 school year. TLC, as its shortened name implies, provides “tender, loving care” in a warm and caring envi- ronment for children between the ages of 2 and 5. “Playgroups” which is offered to 2 year olds is scheduled for one to five mornings per week. “Nursery School” for three year olds is offered two or three morn- ings or afternoon sessions per week. “Pre-School” for four and five year olds is offered three to five mornings per week. Morning sessions are held from 9a.m. tol11:30 a.m. and the after- noon sessions are held from 12 p.m.-2:30 p.m. ; An “Extended Day program” is available to all students from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Classes consist of a maximum of ‘eight children in the “Playgroups” and “Nursery School” classes and a maximum of 12 students in the “Pre-School” classes with a teacher and an aide in all classes. Each class has its own curriculum which is struc- tured for that particular age level.
