12 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, February 3, 1999 OBITUARIES | | CORNELIA CONYNGHAM Cornelia (Parkhurst) Conyngham, 78, of Chase, Jack- son Township died Jan. 28, 1999 at her home. Born May 16, 1920, in Wilkes- Barre, she was a daughter of the late F. Ellsworth and Elsie (Palmer) Parkhurst. She attended the Wilkes-Barre Institute (now Wyoming Seminary Lower School) and graduated from The Oldfields School in Glencoe, MD. : She attended Pine Manor Jr. College, Wellesley, MA and gradu- ated from Weylister Secretarial School, Bridgeport, CT. In 1942, she was a member of the first class of WAVES at the University of Wisconsin at Madi- son. She was on active duty at the Navy Department in Washington, D.C. and completed her service as a telegraher, first class. She lived in Jackson Township far 50 years. She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and a past board member and officer of Planned Parenthood of Luzerne County and of the Women's Auxiliary of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was presi- dent of the Hospital Auxiliary when the first Starlight ball was orga- nized. The ball is now an annual event. For many years, she was a sum- mer resident of both Bear Lake and Prouts Neck, Maine. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Scott Palmer Conyngham, in 1954 and broth- ers, John J. Parkhurst in 1989; and Frank E. Parkhurst III, in 1995. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, William L. and their children, Jessie C. Anzalone, and William H. Conyngham, both of Lehman Township;; Cornelia Romanowski and Frank E. Parkhurst Conyngham, both of Chase; and Elsie McHale, Doylestown; 11 grandchildren; sister, Elsie P. Buyers, Benton and numerous nieces and neph- ews. Interment, Hollenback Cem- etery, Wilkes-Barre. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 35 :S. MARY YVAN CAMPEN Mary M. (Dunn) Van Campen, 80, of Second Street in Warden Place, Harveys Lake, died Jan. 30, 1999 at Dorrance Manor in Kingston. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Paul Mesko and Mary Sura Dunn. She was a graduate of Lake- Noxen High School and resided at Harveys Lake most of her life. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. (Hefft) Dana of Carverton Road, Kingston Town- ship, died Jan. 29, 1999 at the Meadows Nursing Center in Dal- las. Born in the Carverton section of Kingston Township, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Jennie Moyer Hefft. She was a graduate of Kingston Township High School and re- sided in Carverton most of her life. She was employed as a seam- stress for Emkay Manufacturing in West Wyoming, and Leslie Fay in Exeter, until her retirement in 1977. She was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of Carverton United Methodist Church, its W.S.C.S., the church historian and was active with the children’s choir. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers’ Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, John N., Sr.; son, John N., Jr.; brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughters, Judy Isaac, Dallas; Barbara Moore, Tulsa, OK; four grandchil- dren and four great-grandchil- dren. Interment, Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton. Born: Nov: 23, 1909, in Larksville, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret (Nagy) Yanek. She attended Larksville schools and lived in Hunlock Creek for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at Lake Silkworth. Ta She was preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter, Dorothy Mitkowski; grandsons, Anthony and Mark Mitkowski; brother, Joseph and sisters, Mar- garet Sholtis, Mary Urbanovitch and Helen Sobieski. “Surviving are her children, Tho- mas, Plymouth; George, Robert, Edward and Donald, all of Hunlock Creek; and Marie Brojakowski, Hunlock Creek; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; brother, George, Lehman; sister, Betty Sobieski, Southport, NC; and numerous nieces and neph- ews. (Przekoracki) Rovinski, formerly of Davis Street, in the Trucksville section of Kingston Township died Monday at Chester County Hospital in West Chester. Born in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Stella Budzinski Przekoracki. She was a member of St. Therese’s Church in Shavertown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund S. and sis- ter, Helen Przekoracki. Surviving are her daugher, Ann Marie Sachs, West Chester; brother, Joseph, Levittown; and sisters, Stella Danielczyk; Utica, NY; Genevieve Orzeck, Bridgeport, CT; Wanda Gilmore, Cranford, NJ and Constance Przekoracki, Hanover Township. Weiss, of Wild- flower Drive, East Mountain Es- tates, Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Overbrook Road in Dallas, died Jan. 29, 1999 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born May 10, 1928 in Plains Township, he was the son of Caroline (Rymar) Weiss and the late Martin Weiss. He was a 1946 graduate of Plains Township High School and had been employed at the State Correctional Institution at Dallas for 22 years. He was also the former general manager of Nanticoke Ford. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was’ a member of St. Therese’s Church in Shavertown. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Mildred Kownacki; daughters, Donna Vnuk, Delmar, NY and Millie Brody, Dallas; four grand- children; sister, Betty Zawatski, Plains Township and two nieces. He worked in the elevator in- dustry for 35 years.
