A 1998 graduate of Dallas High School, he is now enrolled at the Penn State Worthington-Scranton campus, studying architectural engineer- ing technology. After two years there, he will head to the Harris- burg campus to complete an un- dergraduate degree. Gieda started taking martial arts when he was five years old. A ‘ few years later, he was fascinated by movies featuring kicking, punching heroes. “I wanted to be like Bruce Lee someday,” he said. He's come pretty close. He stud- ies at the Shaolin School of Kung Fu in Wilkes-Barre, and has just earned a black belt. “No, thank God,” he answered when asked if he has ever needed to use his skills. “And I hope I never do.” As for pursuing wrongdoers, would he doitagain? “Absolutely,” he replied. SHAKERS Dennis Brislin, owner of Brislin Construction, Shavertown, has been elected president of the 12,800 employer-member Pennsyvlania Builders Association (PBA), Lemoyne. Brislin will head the 160 volun- teer-member board of directors, where he will be responsible for overseeing the association's ac- tivities on both the state and na- tional levels. He had previously served the PBA as. secretary, treasurer, vice- president, * a board member for 15 years, a Regional Vice President . in 1986 and a Regional Legislative Officer in 1995. He also had Legislative, Finance Membership Committees and as a Pennsylva- nia Committee for Affotdable Housing Trustee. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and is a graduate of Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre and the Philadel- phia Wireless Technical Institute.
