Streets of Tupelo, from Maslow Collection, featured at Everhart The Everhart Museum Winter Exhibition schedule will present a further examination of issues and themes in contemporary American art drawn from The Maslow Collection, such as formalism, the development of an image based vocabulary and the narrative. Selections from the Maslow Collection: Part Ill will be exhibited through Mon., Jan. 18. The Maslow Collection is comprised of over 500 works by 130 artists, a number of whom were included in two recent exhibitions at the Everhart. The upcoming exhibition will present the works of 13 additional artists including works on canvas, prints and three dimensional works. Artists included are Nicholas Africano, Thornton Willis, Andrew Spence, Martin Mull, Tad Wiley, Jane Hammond, Aaron Fink, Jerry Zeniuk and Francesco Clemente, among others. The Everhart Museum is open Wednesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Guided tours are available by appointment. After considerable discussion it was unanimously agreed to have . Chief Avery on duty eight hours each day. The School Board met and after a brief session at which time all bills were paid together with the acceptance by the board of the report of Tax Collector F.M. Gor- don, in full settlement of the 1927 duplicate, adjourned. 60 Years Ago - Jan. 6, 1939 GROUND BROKEN FOR NEW $100,000 SCHOOL IN LEHMAN Ground was broken last week in the preliminary excavation work v on the new $100,000 high school building for Lehman Township being constucted under PWA pro- vision. The building will be fi- nanced by a $45,000 PWA appro- priation from the Federal govern- ment and a $55,000 bond issue which has been taken up by First National Bank of Dallas. Alloca- tion was approved October 27. A tentative budget for 1939 will be considered by Dallas Borough next Thursday it was announced at council meeting Wednesday evening. A balance of $856 was reported by Treasurer R.L. Brickel, bills amounting to $300 were or- dered paid. 50 Years Ago - Jan. 7, 1949 BANK BUYS PROPERTY, WILL DOUBLE IN SIZE First National Bank, Dallas, purchased the former Ritter build- ing on Main Street from A.C. Devens and will shortly start on a building expansion program which will double the working and office space of the bank, W.B. Jeter, president, announced yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Middleton of Lehman recently entertained Mr. Middleton's sister, Mrs. Charles Hanify of Port Angeles, WA. She was sworn in on thelast night of the year releasing Irvin Davis who resigned in October after 30 years of service to take effect De- cember 31. Housed temporarily in one of the Van Horn homes near Dallas Out- door Theater, Dallas Township Police will operate from this base until the new municipal building isready in the spring. Chief Frank Lange now has three full-time of- ficers to assist him. 20 Years ago - Jan. 4, 1979 RUNAWAY TRUCK SMASHES: GAS STATION AT 309-415 A truck driver and his passen- ger were taken to Nesbitt Hospital after the truck in which they were riding ran across Route 309 and crossed the intersection with Route 415 crashing into a gas station and demolishing the sign in front. Treated and released were Carl Garitz driver of the truck owned by Aldacin Dairies Inc. and William Robinson also an em- ployee of the firm. According to the Dallas Police Chief, they had some difficulty in extricating the men from the cab which was crushed by force of impact. Harveys Lake Lions Club is of- fering a $100 reward for informa- tion leading to the apprehension and prosecution of whoever de- stroyed the Christmas tree in the island during the holiday season.
