Gators win 8th grade tournament The Gate of Heaven Gators 8th grade team recently won the Knights of Columbus Tournament. The 15th annual tourney was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus in Luzerne and featured 16 Catholic schools of the Wyoming Valley. The Gators won four games finishing with a 48-40 victory over Regis Academy in the finals. Donny Murray and Adam Tkaczyk com- bined for their teams seven points. Chiropractic outscored Asphalt 17 to 14 to take a 24-22 halftime lead. Chiroprac- tic pulled away a little more in the third period on the shooting of Elijah Miller and Tkaczyk. Chi- ropractic led 38-32 at quarter's end. Barbose pumped in 17 of his game high 39 points in the final quarter, but it was not enough to stop a strong Dallas Chiropractic team, which held on to win 55-53. Chiropractic’s offense was led by Donny Murray with 28 points, followed by Adam Tkaczyk with 21 points. American Asphalt’s of- fense was led by Jon Barbose with 39 points, followed by Brian Dempsey with eight points. DYB 7-8 BOYS Pioneer Const. 40 - NAPA Auto Parts 25 Both teams traded baskets in the first quarter, with NAPA's Eric Mahle and Mike English leading their team’s offense, while Pioneer's, Mike Fehlinger and Kevin Domzalski provided their team’s scoring punch. Halftime it was Pioneer 14 -NAPA 13. Pioneer's, Mike Fehlinger caught fire in the third quarter, and scored 13 of his game high 31 points, to give his team a 29 to 17 lead at quarters end. Pioneer continued up their scoring pace in the fourth quarter and coasted to the win. Pioneer's offense was led by Fehlinger with 31 points, followed by Domzalski with five points. NAPA Auto's offense was led by English with 13 points followed by Mahle with nine points and Shane Gibbons with four points. Gilroy Realtor 38 - Chatham Tech. 29 Gilroy Realtor’s, Chase Susko and John Beberus combined for seven points and gave their team a 9-4 lead at quarter’s end. Gilroy Realtor’'s had a well balanced scor- ing attack in the second period with five different players record- ing buckets, Gilroy led at halftime 21-6. It was much the same in the next two periods with Gilroy con- tinuing to score at will. Gilroy's offense was led by Chase Susko with II points, followed by Charlie Stajewski with eight points, and Ben Nulton with six points. Tech’s offense was led by Greg Mascioli with 10 points, followed by Jeff Dickson with eight points, and Kevin Arnaud with seven points. Burger King 43 - “Intermetro 33 Burger King's, Ryan Gryskevicz pumped in seven points in the first quarter to give his team a 9- 7 lead over Intermetro at quarter's end. Mitch Mitchell kept the game close for Intermetro in the second quarter, but Burger King held a 19-11 halftime lead. Both teams traded baskets in the third quar- ter, with Burger King holding a 24-15 lead. Both teams exploded in the fourth quarter with Burger King outscoring Intermetro 19 to 18torecord the win.
