Replacing bleachers and installing air conditioning and a skylight in the cafeteria are also on the list, if the board opts to build a new $3 million gym and $610,000 field house. Griffiths said the gym floor had one more sanding left before the floor had to be replaced for $100,000. He thinks a new gym would be beneficial for students and the old gym could be used for additional auditorium space and the fine arts classrooms. Middle school improvements include replacing the roof, which is estimated to have only two years left, for $720,000, and converting the heating system from electric to gas. Plumbing and the removal of asbestos tile also are on the list. “The building is 36 years old. It's time for many things to be replaced,” said Griffiths. Dallas Elementary, which was builtin 1973, needs improvements to corridor walls, conversion from + electric to gas heat and renova- tion of offices to provide improved security. In other business, Griffiths re- ceived a 3 percent increase in salary. He went from $80,000 to $82,410 this year. Lehman (continued from page 1) choice with five institutions in the area. Bonnie Gregory, guidance counselor, said the district is scheduling electronic field trips for elementary and middle school students to such places as the State Museum in Harrisburg, NASA and the Railroad Museum. Price said the district is looking into portable equipment that can be used in the elementary schools and middle school. Lake-Lehman is looking into broadcasting some classes next year, he said. He also said the district plans to open the facility to the public in the evening. Inrelated business, the district received an $85,000 grant for school improvements, staff devel- opment and acquisition of hard- ware and software. The grant money comes from a $378,000 grant awarded to the EAA Con- sortium, to which Lake-Lehman belongs. Price told the board the district also applied for a $440,000 grant to help integrate technology into curriculum as well as curriculum model building based on state standards. An odd collection of characters is gathered for the reading of a will including the butler and housekeeper (Brian Miller & Ashleigh Ide), an aging actress noted for her screams (Kelly Adams), two rather inno- cent cousins (Jeff Levinson & Bethany Brown), and some really strange visitors including Sylvia Frye (Alycia Roberts), the drama critic whoruined Sly’s career and, of course, the murderous Creeper (Jerry Appel). The play is filled with so many Editor's Note: Due to an editing error, the continuation of this ar- ticle was omitted from last weelk’s issue., so we are reprinting the entire article. By KYLIE SHAFFERKOETTER Post Staff LEHMAN - A drive down Trojan Rd. in Lehman Township will yield a beautiful vista of a pond with tall evergreens jutting into the sky behind. The quiet country road off Rt. 118 curves through the woods, and provides a natural setting to get away from blacktop and cellular towers, if only for a moment. But along with the ponds and trees, neighbors and Sunday driv- ers these days will find decom- posing televisions, washing ma- chines and sofabeds dotting the landscape. Some sneaky dumpers have been unloading their trash onto private property along the far end of Trojan Rd. and Cassie Green Rd., and have successfully cre- ated an eyesore. Officials seem to be at a loss on a solution. Bill Berholtz, who built a home on Trojan Rd., said he is sick and tired of people dumping their trash. "I'm trom Brooklyn. One ot the reasons I moved out of there was to get away from garbage,” he said. He and his wife have lived on the road for six years and Berholtz said dumping has always been a problem. “Stuff has been there forever and the township doesn’t seem to do anything about it,” said Berholtz of Trojan Rd. “I gather (the dumpers) are coming at night. I think you have to catch them doing it.” Berholtz said it would help if the police patrolled the area more. But, Lehman Township police chief Howard Kocher said dump- ers are an elusive bunch that are hard to catch. 14K Gold, \ Diamond-Cut | Barrel Pendant Enamel Ochman's Coins & Jewelry 18 Church St., Dallas, PA 675-5872 (Center Of Dallas) Lazer Cut Holiday Hours Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sat. 10-6 Sun. 12-5 675-5872 rr VISA I - = So plot twists that one of the charac- ters quips, "All we need now is Porky Pig in a Sherlock Holmes cap.” The other cast members are Tina Burakiewitz, Corey Pajko, Sarah Klug, Kris Nardi, and Sa- rah Nichols. The play is directed and staged by Donald Hopkins and Audrey Ide. The student staff includes stage manager Chris Riley assisted by Laura Vodzak, Heather Vodzak on lights, Shawn Mullen on sound, and Nicole Gabel on props. The play combines traditional mystery thrills and suspense with the zanyness of the Keystone Kops and is suitable for the whole fam- ily. Don’t be afraid to see this fun- filled mystery spoof Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $3 at the door. Kocher said the police do not cruise the area much because of the roads’ rocky condition and he has not received complaints about the problem from the public. “We patrol occasionally, about once a month. If we catch them we cite them. It only takes a couple of minutes to dump trash,” he said, adding that the police have 69 miles of road to cover. Kocher said the Lake Silkworth sportsman’s club removed much of the trash from Cassie Green Rd. in the spring. No trash could be seen on the road last week. Doug Ide, Lehman Township roadmaster and supervisor, said with a three-person road crew, it’s difficult to sufficiently patrol and clean the area. Trash-strewn woods spoil country road in Lehman Township “When people complain and when we have time, we try to look through the trash and clean up and find out whose it is. It's almost impossible to catch any- one in the act,” explained Ide, who seemed genuinely frustrated by the dumping. The Lehman Township Board of Supervisors plan to. abandon Cassie Green Rd., thereby absolv- ing the township of any responsi- bility for it. Trojan Rd. will remain under the township's jurisdiction.
