Dalla Dallas (continued from page 9) “It's a phenomenal program,” Jackson said about Berwick. “They're like a college team.” In more ways than one. Jackson says the Bulldogs boast more than 70 players on their roster while Dal- las hasless than 50. That's in part because, while both schools are in Class AAA, there's a consider- able size differential in the stu- dent body. Dallas is only seven boys above AA, while Berwick is only a few below AAAA. Jackson and his assistants have seen Berwick play a couple of times this season, and he has film of three games. Berwick head coach George Curry has been scouting the Mounts, too. “He should get a season pass,” Jack- son said. “They've been at just about all of our games.” Numbers and size will be the biggest problems, Jackson says. “Their strong point is their size up front,” he said. That, and the abil- ity to run multiple formations. “Sometimes they bring four tight ends,” he said. “We don’t even have four tight ends.” On offense, the Dawgs have a solid quarterback and an all-state wide receiver. And they don't make many mistakes. “They don’t beat themselves,” is how Jackson char- acterizes it. So, what will Dallas do? “We'll have to try to mix it up more on offense,” he said, and play the solid defense the Mountaineers are known for. That worked against Lake-Lehman last week, as Dallas held the Black Knights to four first downs on the way to a 20-0 shutout victory. Matt Jack- son led the offense with 172 yards on 38 carries and two touchdowns. Fullback Matt Acri got the other score, from 16 yards out in the fourth quarter. Can the Mounts win? Berwick has been tested a couple of times this season, by Pittston and Tunkhannock, but no one has stayed with them for four quar- ters. That may not be a reason for optimism, but Dallas isn’t known as a team that gives up, so Satur- day should be interesting. 7-8 ball (continued from page 9) high 14 points, followed by Adam Tkaczyk with 12 points and Adam Schoonover with eight points.
