2 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, November 4, 1998 New entrance for Fieldcrest is debated By JESSICA APPOLO Post Staff JACKSON TWP. - Monday night's meeting possibly set an attendance record, with a full house and not a chair to spare. Most of the meeting revolved around a proposed new entrance to the Fieldcrest subdivision. Jackson Township is withholding approval for its engineer's recom- mendations. Developers are ar- guing the recommended 12 per- cent grade and 50-foot-wide en- trance are not possible. They suggest a 14-16 percent grade and a 40-foot entrance. Preliminary approval has been granted by the Planning Commis- sion, but the question still re- mains whether or not the Jack- son Township road department will be able to handle the steep grade in adverse weather condi- tions. Developers assured board members the increased grade was comparable to Newhart Road. The Township is planning to advertise the possible addition of a barking dog ordinance (animal ordinance) once the solicitor re- views and/or approves it. Supervisors noted that corre- spondence must be received the Friday prior to the monthly meet- ings in order to be read at the meeting. Death (continued from page 1) the message later in the day. The employee who opened the store at 6 a.m. noticed the truck, which was running. At about 7:30 a.m. a former co-worker of Lewis's stopped by the store, and noticed the truck idling. He looked in and saw Lewis, who he thought was sleeping, he told police, then turned off the engine and opened a window. “No foul play is suspected,” Balavage said. He said the:state police would perform tests on the Toyota pickup to try to determine how the gas leaked into the cab. Cellular One originally planned and received approval for a 280 foot tower. The township's approval led to an appeal by Dr. Roger Landry, who lives nearby. The appeal is still pending, but Landry said Tuesday that his lawyer has advised him that even if he wins, the company is likely to keep the issue tied up in the courts "for years." Landry says he cannot carry on the appeal without financial support from others, which he hopes will be forthcoming once the tower is built. "Maybe 100 feet and a 1 1/2 year delay was worth it," he said. Workmen said the tower would be done in about two weeks.
