Coming November 4 (Gate of Heaven School establishes Pastoral Board After a year of prayer, discus- sion and discernment, a decision was reached to form a Pastoral Board that would served as the governing body for Gate of Heaven School in Dallas. The Board is comprised of the pastors repre- senting the four faith communi-/ ties which sponsor and support. Gate of Heaven School and three lay persons representing the par- ishes and families of the school. An Advisory Council to the Pas- toral Board has also been estab- lished. Its primary mission is to develop long-range and short- range plans for the continuation and enhancement of the school community. The Pastoral Board is com- prised of Msgr. J Peter Crynes, pastor St. Therese’s Church in Shavertown; Rev. John Lambert, pastor of The Gate of Heaven Church in Dallas; Robert Paley; Rev. Joseph Rafferty, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Church at Harveys Lake; Dr. Jay Tanner; Marilyn Stanks, and Rev. Joseph Weber, pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Carverton. The advisory council is com- prised of the following members: Dan Gallagher (convenor), Michael Cashore (secretary), Robert Ambrose, Paula Baur, Dr. Robert Clements, Michele Bonetski (President of the Gate of Heaven PTG), Mary Tigue (Principal of Gate of Heaven Schoal), and the to-be- selected Chairperson of the Pas- toral Board. The first official action of this newly formed Pastoral Board is to announce the hiring of a new busi- ness manager for the school. This position has been filled by Marianne Ostrowsky for the past’ two years. She leaves the school community to accept a full-time position as Associate Professor at Luzerne County Community Col- lege. Walter Tigue, Jr. has been hired to fill this vacancy. Mr. Tigue brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position. Mr. Tigue has served in volunteer ca- pacities with several local Catho- lic schools, including Seton Catholic High School, Pittston and St. Mary's Elementary School, Avoca. Mr. Tigue served these schools as board president, school accountant and business man- ager. Mr. Tigue also brings personal experience in the field of educa- tion, having recently retired from a teaching position at Pittston Area High School, where he was a member and past chairman of the Mathematics department. Also, in 1983 he served as the devel- oper of the school’s computer edu- cation curriculum. Sticky buns orders now being taken The Susanna Children and Family Fellowship of Trucksville United Methodist Church will conduct a sticky bun sale to support their mission projects. Gable’s buns may be ordered through Nov. 11. Please call 696-3897. Pick up is scheduled for the mornings of Nov. 14 and 15. * Back Mountain Memorial Library Citrus Sale Orders for citrus fruit will be taken by the Back Mountain Memorial Library until Nov. 20. This is an annual fundraising event to benefit the library. Navel oranges and red grapefruit, in 2/5 bushel lots, will be available at S12 each. Sunburst tangerines will be available for the first time, at $15 per 2/5 bushel. The fruit will be delivered to the library on Dec. 11.
