The Dallas Post Section 2 October 21, 1998 Sports Knights score early, Lake-Lehman bounced back from two consecutive losses to hold on for a 21-14 victory over GAR at Wilkes-Barre Memorial Stadium Friday night. The Black Knights scored all their points on the ground in the first half. Rich Patton scored on short runs in the first quarter and " second quarter, and Travis McRoy broke free for a 64-yard touchdown scamper in the second. Seth Moyer kicked all three extra points. GAR go on the board in the first quarter, then had to wait until the final quarter to score again. The Lehman defense stuffed GAR's final JUNIOR FOOTBALL Raiders B ends season with 29-6 victory @ The Kingston Township Raiders B-Tearn finished the season on a high note beating the previously unbeaten Kingston Huskies 29-6 in Dallas on Sunday afternoon. In the midst of the mid-October heat wave the Raiders came out on fire Sunday, dominating on both sides of the ball. The offense behind the leadership of Quarterback Matt Kelly marched up and down the field all day. Elijah Miller and Derrick Elston punished the Huskies with electrifying runs. Brian Ostrowsky, when he wasn’t running the ball or blocking for Kelly, hauled in three Kelly passes for big yardage. The offensive line play was awesome. Steve Wengen, Jaimie Trocki, Jacob Kovalchick, Dave Judge, Curt Montz, Tom Perrego and Drew Hiller had their way with the Kingston defense all afternoon. In the end, Elijah Miller scored twice with Kelly and Ostrowsky getting one score apiece. Defensively the normally high- powered Huskies we're kept in check all day. After scoring an early second quarter touchdown the Raiders kept the Huskies from crossing the 50 yard stripe the rest of the afternoon. Nick Onzik and Kevin Roman were all over the field covering the corners. The Raiders end their season at 6-2 and would like to thank all their supporters, parents and fans. Raiders C- Team ends at 3-5 The Raiders C -Team ended the season at 3-5 with a loss to the undefeated Kingston Huskies. The final score was 16-6. Neither team was successful in the air; Lehman's D.J. Kapson was only 2-for-10 for 57 yards, while GAR'’s Lance Wren was 4-for-17 for only 34 yards. McRoy was Lehman's leading rusher with 158 yards in 16 carries, followed by Patton, who was 18 for 81 yards. The Black Knights defense recorded one sack for an 11-yard loss. FOOTBALL Dallas 35, Tamaqua 7 The Mountaineers pounded winless Tamaqua for five touch- downs, overcoming 16 penalties for 150 yards in a non-league game Friday night. Matt Jackson ran for two touchdowns and took a Chuck Suppon pass for an- other, and Matt Acri had tworush- ing TD’s. Jackson finished the night with 131 yards on 24 car- ries and Acri also topped 100 yards, running eight times for 116 yards. Cory Gallant carried eight times and gained 50 yards. Tamaqua tried to keep up with a passing attack that yielded its only score. Dallas quarterback Chuck Suppon was 4-for-6 for Jackson. Chris Tucker caught the other three passes for 93 yards. Dallas 3, Valley West 0 Dallas scored three goals in the first 30 minutes Oct. 15, and Nate Hoffman turned away 10 Wyo- ming Valley West shots as the Mounts romped. Andrew George found the net first, only seven minutes into the game on a feed from Mike McHale. Jesse Will- iams followed about 10 minutes later with Mike Cleary picking up the assist, and Tim Faneck com- pleted the scoring with 12 min- utes left in the first half. Sean Killeen got the assist. Dallas had 24 shots while holding the Spar- tans to 17. : Lehman 9, Meyers 0 It took a while to get going, but the Black Knights didn’t stop af- ter Andrew Verdekal booted in the first goal halfway through the first half. He scored another and Nathan Walters and Russ Wenrich had a pair of goals as Lehman rifled 42 shots on goal. Meyers could get only two shots off. J.B. Bucha, Ryan McDade and Ken also scored for Lehman.Russ Mosier and David Walters had two assists each. Dallas 5, Abington 1 The Mounts overpowered Abington Heights in Clarks Sum- mit Oct. 16. Mike Cleary scored the first two Dallas goals, and Justin Hoover; Rich Samanas and Tim Faneck chipped in one apiece. Hoover and Samanas also picked up assists, as did Jesse Williams and Andrew George. Dallas had 20 shots, twice what they allowed the Comets. Lehman 2, Valley West 0 Nate Walters and Andrew Verdekal scored and Russ Mosier turned back three shots as Leh- man stayed unbeaten Oct. 17 at home.
